I've never seen him perform. I know Punk was hyped to the moon and failed to deliver on my heightened expectations, so I'm quite skeptical of this McGuinness fella.

Punk is over big time and he's already a three time world champion. I don't get it, did you think he was gonna be squashing John Cena and DX in 3 on 1 matches or something?

YES! When I was telling a coworker that WWE signed AmDrag earlier this week I told him I'd rather have Nigel since I think he'd do great in the WWE....hopefully he can stay relatively close to his character he has now..

If I may ask what expectations were you expecting of him? To unify the belts or defeat Cena/HHH back to back in the same night or something? The guy has done quite well for himself thus far in WWE.

WHY WAS I NOT PREPARED FOR THIS MOMENT. Nigel has the best chance of a Brit ever becoming World Champ. I hope he gets it

That's pretty much a wrap for ROH, IMO. Those were 2 of ROH's best guys and they are now with the WWE. Hopefully, Delirious soon follows suit.

Btw, the WWE should give him Anarchy in the UK or God Save the Queen by the Sex Pistols.
I would mark.

When I refer to my expectations for Punk, I'm referring to his performance, not his kayfabed accomplishments. Sure, his list of accomplishments is impressive, but I'm still underwhelmed by him as a performer. His promos are average (but much better than the sleep-inducing dullness they once were) and his workrate is probably slightly below average. I think I shall Google some of McGuinness' work and then let the entire forum know what I think of it.

Unless every member of the IWC has stepped in the ring and worked a match, the word 'workrate' should come nowhere near discussions.
It's not how much you know, it's how you use what you know to get the reaction.

While there are a few exceptions, it's hard to get over with just that. I'd personally rather be better on the mic and how to work a crowd then knowing a bunch of holds. Besides, it's not like they're actually wrestling out there, just doing a bunch of choregraphed moves.

I'm happy for Nigel. I met him & he's a cool guy. Signing to the WWE gives him the chance to properly get everything healed so good for him.
If you asked me which was the bigger loss for ROH I'd say it was Dragon because Dragon is ROH but if you asked me which was the bigger pick up for WWE i'd say it was Nigel. He has a size more suitable to WWE(6'1 220lbs) & is levels above Dragon as far as mic skills & he may only be a notch or two below Dragon in wrestling skill if not on par with him.

I'd really love it if WWE played up on his Johnny Rotten look and make him a punker from Britian with an acerbic attitude. Hell give him a Gordon Ramsay gimmick, yeah i'd love to see the guy in ECW though. I'm going to lol when people think OMG Kennedy's back, but it's Nigel. Oh and just as an aside I really hope WWE picks up Human Tornado Nigel is bald now. Dunno why but he looks like an amalgamation of Christian Bale and Daniel Craig.

A kayfabed accomplishment would be like Buddy Rogers winning the WWF title in a tournament in Rio De Janero when there was no tournament. He really is a three time world champion and he is over. No offense, but whether or not you personally like his work based on whatever your own arbirtrary criteria might be doesn't really count for much (at least not for purposes of this particular discussion). If his work is so average, why is he doing so well?
