Something I've always wanted to point out for months is that Bob Holly's Alabama Slammer is pretty retarded. A move where he has to position his head between a guys legs (powerbomb style) and stand up so he can slam his back down is a pretty lame finishing move. I mean the actual impact is cool, but just awkward to set up finishing a guy off by bending over and stiking your head between a guy's legs. Any other opinions? I'm sure some of these will probably cross under the contrived moves thread, this is more for moves that are okay in the middle of the match, but not to finish guys off with. And by contrived I mean: officialfan.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=WWE&thread=1126843609&page=5

It would be a great way to counter the Pedigree.

Let's start with the Masterlock. Unbreakable huh? I guess none of the wrestles have legs, or a nearby turnbuckle. I guess that's why whenever Masters gets someone in it, someone else hits him from behind. Lucky for whoever is in it... I always thought the Unprettier, though possibly effective upon delivery, seemed rather complicated to set up.

Shelton's T-Bone Suplex. He needs a submission finisher, posthaste.

Gotta say it: the 619. Sure, kicking the guy in the face is likely to be effective, but any move that relies on having the opponent just happen to drape himself over the second rope--ONLY the second rope, mind you--just stretches credibility.
The fact that every fricking one of Rey's opponents somehow manages to do so at least twice a match doesn't just stretch credibility, it drags it into a back alley and bends it into new and exciting shapes.

Clothesline From Hell. It's a criminey jeezeing clothesline. Hey now, let's not knock SOME clotheslines. Stan Hansen, Kenta Kobashi, even Homicide and some others use lariets VERY effectively. I won't argue JBL too much, though.

Bingo. Not to mention that they just happen to stumble in the right direction for him to springboard onto them. Lame. But then again, Rey Mysterio is lame.

His moveset now is so contrived and lame. Still puts on good matches, but only when the 619 doesn't happen.

The tarantula in WWE always seemed pointless. Since it was a ropes hold it only lasted for a couple of seconds (unless the ref was out for some reason.)

I won't argue JBL too much, though. JBL has an excellent lariat, it's sloppy and viscious and come can out of nowhere. Homicide looks like that annoying guy from Longest Yard. that "LET ME BE THe quauta back? Why can't I be the quata back ah" guy. JBL has the best Lariat in wrestling today. THat's how I feel. Yes i've seen Kobashi's and Sasake's. I think JBL has them beat. oOh and I'd like to say Rock Bottom>>>>>People's Elbow

What has made great wrestlers/matches over the years is the ability to pull the finisher out of nowhere. Some of them now just don't have a chance because they take like 8 minutes to get the guy in position.

The Angle Slam and SC Stunner are pretty easy to pick off out of nowhere. In Foley's first book, he talked about how the best finishers are the ones where you can hit them on anyone. Like, his Mandible Claw was easy to pull off, and he could hit anyone with it. But if Undertaker wrestles someone too big, he can't hit the Tombstone.
I kind of think Trish's Stratisfaction bulldog is kind of stupid. But she's hot so I forgive her.

The Overdrive (Elix Skipper/Orton's finisher before the RKO) is visually impressive, but it seems to me like it takes some work to set up and execute

The RKO comes out of nowhere. I mean, he sets up for it these days, but I remember when he could be doing anything, and out comes the RKO with no warning.
I like bigtime finishers that just seem to come out of nowhere: Rock Bottom, Stone Cold Stunner, Angle Slam, Diamond Cutter (though it's really another front facelock drop), and even the Pedigree to some degree.
As for the Overdrive, I don't see how it could hurt someone. Maybe I haven't seen it all that much (mostly in the videogames) but I just can't imagine that doing any damage to anyone. CURSE YOU MATT STRIKER FOR MAKING ME REMEMBER THIS CRAZY MOVE. BUT KUDOS ON THE WARYAH IMPRESSION. Yes.
