This week's quizzes are out. The deadline will be Saturday at Noon (eastern). If you are still in the competition and you didn't get one, send me a PM. Like last week, I'll send a reminder on Friday to anyone who still didn't send in the answers, but if I don't get them by noon the next day, you are automatically cut.
The bottom two will be eliminated this week...

Comment: The Abbey Road answer keeps the "Paul is Dead" motif alive. As you seen, the plate reads: LMW 28IF. If I'm not mistaken, the plate stands for "Linda McCartney Weeps, 28 if". At the time of the album's release, he would have been 28. Which is exactly why the urban legend is so bogus. Paul was 27 in 1969 (Born 1942)

Tough ones again this week. I felt I did better than last week but after I checked all the answers I realized I did about the same. My 90's knowledge sucks.

Average score 7? I think I'm out, I got four maybe five. I'm pretty much nailing the classical questions the rest is up for grabs.

Week 2 Answers: 1. 80s Music: Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time” was written in commemoration of what special event (need the year as well)? The 1988 Summer Olympics held in Seoul, South Korea. And somewhat less famously, the theme song to my elementary school graduation. The video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=poaXgXQmdIo2. 80s Music: Who directed U2s rockumentary “Rattle and Hum?”Phil Joanou, who also directed the “Bono in a bar” version of “One”. He would later go on to direct the films State of Grace, Final Analysis and Gridiron Gang. The two most common wrong answers were Spike Jonze and Martin Scorsese. 3. Movie Music: Three singles from 1989’s Batman soundtrack managed to crack the Top 40 Billboard Pop charts. “Batdance” was obviously one. What were the other two?“Partyman (#18)” and “The Arms of Orion” (#36). While “Scandalous” did crack the top five on the R&B charts, it never charted on the pop charts. 4. Movie Music: What do Audrey Hepburn (My Fair Lady), Natalie Wood (West Side Story) and Minnie Driver (The Phantom of the Opera) all have in common? All three had their singing parts dubbed over by others. Minnie Driver did sing “Learn to Be Lonely” for the soundtrack, but the studio opted for an accomplished opera singer for the film. Audrey Hepburn actually sang the part of Eliza Doolittle during filming, but her vocals were replaced by Marni Nixon, the same singer who provided the vocals for Natalie Wood in West Side Story. Audrey Heburn singing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q671QIDeH-U5. Classic Rock: Who was the original lead guitarist for The Yardbirds?Anthony “Top” Topham, who left the band to pursue his art studies. Clapton would be his replacement 6: Classic Rock: On the Beach Boys’ track “Good Vibrations” there is a sound effect similar to the high pitched soundtrack of early science fiction films. What is the name of the instrument that produces this sound? The Electro-Theramin. I wasn’t too picky here; if you put Theramin, you got credit. Theramin demo: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh2hmupkipI7. 90s Music: Which track on Tori Amos’ 1994 album “Under the Pink” features guest background vocals from Trent Reznor?“Past the Mission”, a song based upon the book Holy Blood, Holy Grail years before Dan Brown ripped it off. As the story went, Trent and Tori were actually very close friends during the time when he was recording The Downward Spiral and she was recording Under the Pink. However, the friendship would dissolve by the end of the decade. Tori hasn’t given a clear answer as to why, but Trent blames Courtney Love. 8. 90s Music: Folk Implosion was the side project of whom and from what band?Lou Barlow of Sebadoh. "Natural One": www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYerwwTV5qc9. Classical Music: The classic Warner Bros. cartoon “What’s Opera Doc?” is a parody of the operas of which composer?Wagner. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGhQ2BDt4VE10. Classical Music: The one-time child piano prodigy Clara Wieck married a famous composer before going on to compose many works herself. Who was her husband?Robert Schumann, or at least one of his personalities. He’s a bit like a classical music Mick Foley. Clara was a brilliant composer herself, but like many women of the era, she did not think that her music deserved to be taken seriously, at least not in relation to her role as wife and mother. However, depending on which source you believe, Clara may have actually been responsible for some of Robert’s later works. 11. Beatles: What “new” Beatles song was released as part of The Beatles Anthology Vol. 1? “Free as a Bird”, which was actually a 1977 demo by John Lennon that was embellished with Paul, George and Ringo recording their parts nearly 20 years later. 12. Beatles: What was the amount of money that Lorne Michaels offered The Beatles to reunite on Saturday Night Live?$3,000, which was a paltry sum even in the 1970s. This also led to years of in-jokes when the Beatles would later appear individually as musical guests. In one skit, George argued with Lorne Michaels over the $750 he was given to appear on the show. During his guest appearance in 1994, Paul wondered out loud if Lorne had given George the money. 13: Here’s the Lyric: “I am a natural entertainer, aren't we all”“Kremlin Dusk” – Utada Hikaru. She’s a huge star in Japan, but if she’s known at all in this country, it’s for her contributions to the soundtracks of the Kingdom Hearts games. She’s recorded two English language albums, but neither got any attention in the US. Too bad, she’s a hell of a lot more talented than the Lady Gagas of the world. 14: Here’s the Lyric: “What the hell did you expect to find/Aphrodite on a barstool by your side”“Pieces of the Night” – Gin Blossoms. My personal favorite song on New Miserable Experience. 15: GRAB BAG: On The Wrestling Album (1985), who sang a duet with Junkyard Dog on the song "Grab Them Cakes?"Vicki Sue Robinson, whose other credits included “Turn the Beat Around” and the “J.C. Penny doing it Right.” jingle. I have a feeling this one was bumped off the resume pretty quickly, though.

Darn me for not getting my answers in on time. Stupid busy work week. Oh well, I think I only would've gotten about 3 right so it's possible I may have been eliminated this week anyway. 'Twas fun though. Enjoy everyone left!

Damn it. I put 3000 as my guess but figured that would be too small and added another zero to it. Should have stuck with my initial gut instinct.

And just what is wrong with Grab Them Cakes? There used to be a Kirstie Alley weight loss commercial where she would say excitedly, "I can even have cake!" and I'd always bust out singing "Grab dem cakes ... Awwwwww Grab 'em!", which trust me, led to some strange looks from my friends. ;D

Two observations:
1 - I really, REALLY botched the Yardbirds question. I did the equivalent of doing a homerun swing and getting nothing but air.
2 - The amount of money The Beatles got offered to do SNL was way, way, WAY lower than I would have expected.
