"If that song, or should I say campaign, by an American group is our Christmas No 1 I’ll be gutted for him and our charts."
Is Cheryl just ignoring the fact that "The Climb" is an American song sang by an American singer.
And also some of the comments from her and others make it sound like RatM were the guys planning this from the start.
Also, it's been announced that if RatM win, they are going to do a free concert in the UK as a thank you. They said they would try to get Simon to MC it.

I find the whole thing stupid, the fact is that the RATM backers are saying that Cowell is controling the music industry by forcing his people on top...WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING THEN!? Because obviously like any music fan should know, Christmas=Killing in the Name Of. It's hypocritical in my opinion and is not only damaging Joe's carrer, but also people that have put songs out as well this week that have lost the attention that they rightfully deserve because some Facebook group decided to stand up to the "coprate fat cats". So Christmas = Random talent show contestant singing a Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana song in your opinion then? Also I scoff at the idea of RATM holding down all these artists you speak of, as if anyone normally ever has a chance going up against an X-Factor winner The Climb has a better message than "f*** you I won't do what I told you to do". And also RATM took a spot which would have been taken by a band trying to break through like Mumfords and Son. Chris Moyles said that his expected sales were 60% down thanks to RATM, and he's the bloody Radio 1 breakfast DJ for crying out loud.

Isn't the whole point of this campaign the fact that a large portion of music consumers are sick of Simon "controlling the music industry by forcing his people on top" and are thus taking back the control, if only for a week? Sure, Killing In The Name Of isn't a Christmas song, but neither is a freakin' cover of The Climb. And how is this damaging to his career? The kid is 18 and has an entire career ahead of him; not having the #1 song for a week isn't exactly career-ending. Hell, it got his name further out to the masses, didn't it? If anything, I completely support the Rage Against The Machine campaign because I've always been taught that if you don't like the way something's being done, you stop complaining and do something about it. Look at what happened to Leon after he lost out to Peter Kay, gone right off the radar because no one took him seriously. Also the guy won the biggest show on British TV, why the hell would he need more publicity. It also teaches that the loud minority can overpower the majority if they don't agree making the whole idea of the charts pointless.

About a ton of sources say Rage have done it.
Of course, it's not yet official, and the chart could be fixed...

Personally, that's one of the things I'll consider funniest if they get to Number 1.

I'm oddly enthralled by this whole thing. This Joe guy and Simon Cowell seem like complete arrogant pricks, especially seeing as though it looks like they conspire to have whoever wins that show get a guaranteed #1 album/single for the week of Christmas (seeing as though most people just discount albums to generate sales, or crank out a Christmas album that will cease to be listened to in about 3 weeks).
If I could have, I would have bought a couple copies of "Killing in the Name" just to stick it to Simon Cowell's pompous ass.

I don't think many people are wrapped up in the "let's stick it to the man" mentality, especially since it all goes to sony anyway. It's mainly about annoying Simon Cowell.

The Sheamus chart is still 100% right so far. Interesting to note that it's saying Lady Gaga (#3) sold 61,000 and Joe McElderberry (#2) sold 450,000. Shame it takes a major chart battle to get people to actually buy music. [Also, how AWESOME was RATM's Radio 5 performance? It was alright, even if Radio 5 ruined with HORRIBLE sound quality. I sent an e-mail to the BBC last night to remind them that they're not allowed to say "...so buy Joe's record". How much do you bet I don't get a response. Update: Seriously, Peter Kay should just give up. Re:Update: I like Lady Gaga... There, I said it.

We're up to number 4 right now with Peter Kay and a bunch of cartoon characters (For the Americans on here, it was for charity. I just heard Scooby and Shaggy singing a bit)
That leaves RatM, Joe and Lady Gaga to go in the top three.
