Rule Britannia!
I had to buy the song twice after finding out my sister cancelled my original download out by buying the X-Factor one. Cheeky bitch.

It was about damn time the public started organizing to start pushing musicians not manufactured by Cowell. Although the "Britannia first" bit was hilarious, seeing as the dude was singing a cover of a song by renowned Queen's subject MILEY CYRUS.

Bring it on, RATM!
Oh, poo-poo Simon. You take such glee in shooting down people on American Idol and yet, you can't take it when one of your "proteges" gets the same treatment from the people.

I don't read papers so I won't care. ;D If you don't read papers how has this in any way affected you? Let's see... My friends have talked about it ad nauseum. Twitter is bombared with it. Facebook has all my friends joining a group to do with it because, well, it started on Facebook. The news broadcasts mentioned it (Why I have NO idea) 5Live friggin' had Rage on. Every news site I went to talked about it and had big long stupid discussions about it. So yeah, just because I don't read papers does not mean I haven't heard about it some way.

Are you just unhappy the X Factor kid lost? ;D I've made my point before about it and got ignored so I thought peeing people off would work, that's all. Seriously, I haven't heard that guy's song nor do I care. I wouldn't have cared so much if it didn't turn into an 'Us vs. Them' battle. We're fighting the eeeeevil music overlords whose songs we don't have to listen to (as I have proven by not watching a single X-Factor episode), don't have to download (which I don't) and don't have to care about what position they reach (said it before, don't get the point of charts when everyone has MP3 players and the ability to listen to what they want to, especially as there have been worst songs that have reached Christmas Number one before (and no, I don't mean last year's number one...waaaaay before then)). And it also adds to my absolute hatred of where the musical fanbase has gone to, trying to judge 'real' music from 'fake' music. You like Miley Cyrus or Slipknot? Good on you, you like something in music. But, of course, you can't like what you want without a whole mob of screaming snobs running to you and judging you. Yes, it's in every medium (I can name examples from this place), but Music is one of those where it's not needed. Music, at the end of the day, should be about what a person feels from listening to it. They like it, good. I don't see why I should crap on their happiness. If you want to know my view, pox on both their houses. Simon is a dope for thinking a Miley Cyrus song is a good idea for a winner's song and Killing in the Name Of is one of Rage's worst songs.

This is almost as great as the year mr Blobby beat Take That to the Xmas number one...yeah!
I have never been more proud to be British...sob sob...well, not really. But this is a fairly ace turn of events. The thinking was that physical sales of Joe's single would push him over the edge, but the opposite seems to have happened. Rage now have the only UK number one on downloads alone, and also the most download sales in one week in UK chart history.
I like that the band have accepted that (aside from the fact that the lyrics are so very apt) this is more about a backlash against the awful trend of homogenised corporate X Factor tosh being guaranteed the Christmas number one, and just got behind it. Democracy does work! A Miley Cyrus cover was obviously a step too far.
I wonder if this will be a yearly trend now? People deciding on a song to battle the X Factor winner in the Christmas charts? What hilarity will ensue next year? The possibilities are endless!

I personally didn't care either way until Simon, the artist and a few others on that side acted like it was some sort of travesty and the boy was entitled to number one. I personally have no issue with what people like or don't like...I do however see why people over there would be tired of having the winner presumed and the artists handlers act like they are entitled.
