...out of.
For me, I'd have to say that I've probably spent more hours of my life enjoying every game in the entire Battlefield series.
I loved the original Battlefield 1942 all the way up to Battlefield Bad Company and Battlefield 1943.
I've played all the expansion packs on the PC versions, and spent countless hours between all the console games.
I've been playing the hell out of BC and the BC2 demo lately, and it seems that unlike games like Modern Warfare 2, I never get tired of Battlefield games and that style of FPS.
I can't think of any other series of games in which I've spent more time playing, or had more fun playing.
How about you?

Probably the Metal Gear Solid series. I'd say Final Fantasy but I doubt that counts, considering it's almost entirely VII

Final Fantasy, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (I've finished the first one at least eight times) and Shin Megami Tensei. (especially Persona 3 and 4, which I've played for 450 hours and counting)

Tetris, that mighty block arranging bastard. In recent years, Civilization Revolution has taken up lots of my time.

Civilization 2-4. I have no idea how much time I've spent playing any of the three games, but trust me when I say that it's an unbelievably long time considering the mods I've also played.
And Touhou, counting all the fanmade stuff I also enjoy.

Sonic the Hedgehog, without question.
ANY of the main series of games from Sonic 1 to Heroes I could sit down and play anytime.
Sonic 3 and Knuckles is in my opinion the greatest videogame of all time in fact.
And trust me...I failed an American Lit. test and had to drive home from college in a winter storm...but it was a great day with the Sonic 4 announcement.
I will also say that the Pokemon games aren't far behind...but one thing I am big on when trying to get the most fun out of a game is being able to replay it from the start without feeling like I threw out a crapload of stuff and will take forever to get it all back, which is my problem with the Pokemon games, especially since me and a bunch of friends are now competitive about it.
No More Heroes would be there too, as they are FUN as can be the first time through...but even though you keep all your stuff when you start a second playthrough, you just don't wanna do it. But the first time through...man oh man...and for the record I will say the first one was more fun than SSB Brawl (this coming from the man who started and ran the infamous Brawl thread for a large chunk of time).

No doubt in my mind, the Final Fantasy series. I've played every one to death with the exceptions of 11 and 12. I'd hate to think the total amount of hours I've racked up playing those games.

The main Mario series by miles, I have a Mario game permanently sitting in my GBA micro (usually Mario 3) and have enjoyed most of the series, that's without including his spin-offs like Mario Kart.
After that it's probably Tetris and the hand-held Zeldas for one player and Smackdown, FIFA/pro evo, micro machines and Smash Brothers for multiplayer shenanigans.
Honourable shouts for No More Heroes and the Oddworld games for their humour but that's quality over quantity.

I'd like to say that I've probably spent the most time playing Perfect Dark as far as a single game goes.
I would play against those bots in multiplayer NONSTOP for a couple of years.

I probably gotta say the Tony Hawk series, except for the last couple of years. I still own 1 and 2 on my Dreamcast and 3 through American Wasteland on the PS2. I played Project 8 and Proving Ground but by that point, the developers just plain gave up on the PS2 in favor of the next-gen versions, which may be good but I wouldn't know as I haven't tried them. Hell, I kinda had high hopes for Ride, even though I'd probably never play it as I refuse to spend $100+ on a fake skateboard. I'm already doing that as it is with fake musical instruments.
A close runner up would be the GTA series but only starting with GTA3 up to Vice City Stories. I still haven't played much of GTA4 or any of the DLC.

GTA. Addiction started with III and now can't wait to get my hands on Episodes. The only series where the company would have to change little in the handling (just change the city, the story and the characters) and I would still buy it like a devoted sheep.
