At first I think most people looked at her like a joke but after a while I think people are starting to see more of the Bowie/Stardust influence.
Also her songs do sound very 80s with a mix of todays music which I like.
I think Ke$ha's songs are a bit more catchier but Lady Gaga is getting way more popular than I ever thought she would.

Yes, I love her. She's my favourite singer today. And I think she's smoking hot.

I like her music.
I'm still not sure if I like her as....well....her.
She's like the Japan of the music industry. She's weird just to be weird. I mean, I don't think people are shocked at her fugly outfits anymore.

At first I didn't think much of her at all. Poker Face struck me as something that would be a one-hit wonder and she'd end up fading away just as quickly as she arrived. But then I heard Bad Romance and couldn't stop listening to it, and I decided to check out the rest of her work. And I really like it. The Fame Monster, despite only having eight songs, is a terrific album from top to bottom.

She's a curious creature that ironically sends up fame and celebrity culture whilst also revelling in it. The music? Very catchy but time will tell if it has staying power, much of mainstream pop of that ilk does not really. So yeah at the moment i dig her, but will i still be listening to it years down the road like i do 90's rock and metal? I very much doubt it.

Not even a little bit. A weird image and an autotuner do not cover up a lack of talent, which she suffers from in the extreme. She's post-"Dirty" Christina Aguilera without any of the actual talent.

I don't know enough about her music to give a good judgment. But I do think it's a breath of fresh air to once again have a pop star who's eccentric and flamboyant. Pop stars are supposed to be charismatic and theatrical and draw interest in large part because of their uniqueness. After more than a decade of manufactured teenybopper idols, it's refreshing to have someone with an interesting presence again.

Trust me, her "interesting presence" is just as manufactured as any other modern pop star's gimmick. Today, stars aren't made on a stage, they're made in focus groups and board rooms.

Here's that pre-fame clip of the girl behind the Gaga:
That is musical talent IMO. Stripped-down and no gimmicks. The pageantry stuff is the attention grabber, but there is musical ability behind it.

I like her, she's got great vocal range and can write a good song. However, I honestly think her fashion sense is her pretty much trolling us all and we've all gotten suckered into it.

That's a negatory good buddy! I feel her image is very forced and sad. The whole "Please God, LOOK AT ME! I'm weird!" thing is just pathetic to me. She was never going to make it on talent alone IMO. She was just some milk toast italian girl with a half decent voice. So she dresses like a mental patient and Voila! She's famous! Yawn.
Part of me wants to believe she is making a subtle commentary on how stupid the general public and the media are. That she's showing us that all the talent in the world doesn't matter because all you have to do to get mega famous is act bizarre and your awful pop songs will sell huge, but I doubt that's the case.

If the musical talent weren't lacking, she wouldn't have to rely on the gimmicks. The point of that clip is that it isn't gimmicky, just vocals and piano. She can sing well and play well. All the other stuff gets attention which = larger audience. She's not just some hack running around out there in these daft outfits, this is someone that knows music and songwriting. Now how much of the current image and songs being subject to corporate and producer influence is speculative.

If the musical talent weren't lacking, she wouldn't have to rely on the gimmicks. I disagree. If talent is all it takes to get noticed, every person with singing ability in the world (and I'm sure that is a huge load of people) would be rich and famous right now. Face it, many artists need an attention grabber before audiences will even care to listen to the music, especially because sometimes most people don't care that Singer A can sing when Singer B, C, D, E, F, etc. can, too. Gaga has great singing talent; the gimmick is just there to get you to notice it. Come on, I'd expect wrestling fans to understand that.
