It seems Cornette is much more likeable to us then people who actually had to spend time around him or work with him.

It's funny, Cornette bashes Batista, and people want to lump it in with him hating everyone. There may be a grain of truth in that, but in this specific case, he's not the only one. Tom Pritchard absolutely lambasted Batista for no-showing training repeatedly in OVW and copping an attitude with him. Granted he's always been a pretty outspoken guy, but does this mean OVW, when big Dave was there, only employed pissed off people to run things?

Cornette has actually spoken quite highly of John Cena. So he doesn't hate everyone on top.

Does Jim Cornette like anyone? I like Jim but every time he gives an interview it's "everyone sucks and I'm god." He's an arrogant ass for sure. he does have good ideas, but the problem is that it's hard to respect the messenger.

It was called Smokey Mountain Wrestling. It failed, because, according to Chris Jericho's book, the guy had no idea what he was doing with his money.

Or when you screw up his order at Dairy Queen. Yeah, he really knows how to scream at a teenage minimum wage worker!

Or when you screw up his order at Dairy Queen. Yeah, he really knows how to scream at a teenage minimum wage worker! In Cornette's defense, he made a legitimate order of food. They DQ thought they were "screwing" with them. Shoot, if I ordered food, and they didn't make it because they thought I was "screwing" with them, I would be angry as well.

Well, Cornette's elaborated on his Batista comments on the Who's Slamming Who podcast this week. He didn't have a problem with him personally up until he Batista made those comments in his book due to politics ("didn't want praise from him but I didn't want a knock either"). Supposedly, he'd have been released during his time as Deacon Batista after Cornette and Danny Davis spent so much time and effort building him up in OVW until he became friends with Triple H and he suddenly started getting pushed (then Batista started crediting Finlay for the majority of his wrestling education). Cornette takes the usual shots after Johnny Ace and WWE Creative and mentions that you'd never hear Cena and Orton badmouth their OVW origins.

Meh, I get that Cornette is pretty bitter and angry at a lot of people, but he's too entertaining not to like. The idea that Batista is where he is purely because of HHH is utter bollocks though. Being friends with HHH (and others, no doubt) might have opened a couple of doors for him, but he's ran with it to the point where he's one of the biggest stars they have. It says more for HHH's talent spotting abilities than it does for anything else. Sheamus says hi.

Oh come on guys, this is Jim Cornette being Jim Cornette.
He doesn't kiss butt to anyone, he for better or worse speaks his mind.
I mean who else can we say about that in the Wrestling business?

Cornette has actually spoken quite highly of John Cena. So he doesn't hate everyone on top. I would love to hear those particular thoughts.

He has spoken highly of John Cena before. But they aren't particularly what people interviewing ask him about him.
People interviewing Jim Cornette tend to ask more questions about the past, and if it's about the present and/or future. ROH.

He pretty much pole-vaulted over that line there.

I can't see Batista or Sheamus getting a push based on being workout buddies with HHH. HHH would never flex his backstage muscles to give unfair pushes to his friends, it's not like he was ever part of a group or Kliq dedicated to making sure only members of the group of friends got a push... Nope. I'll never understand what made Batista worthy of a push. He had a decent body, but did people like Chuck Palumbo or Mark Jindrak.

Unique look, actually pretty damn good in the ring when he gets the proper motivation and opponent, charisma and in the right capacity mic skills, and he got over huge before WWE even began to actually set him up to challenge Triple H.

And there have been plenty of others who have those qualities and more, and end up being released. I'm not going to say that HHH is the sole reason that people like Batista and Sheamus get megapushes, but I will guarantee you that it didn't hurt either. Backstage politics is and always has been a huge part of professional wrestling.
