I'll agree that Rey winning quite often does get irritating, but what irritates me far more about Mysterio is that he's basically a heel but for some reason we're supposed to accept him as a face. He spent the 2006 Royal Rumble hugging the bottom turnbuckle like a chickens*** heel, spent the later part of the year feuding with Vickie and Chavo Guerrero because they were upset that he was using Eddie's name to get himself over (which even from a kayfabe standpoint was true), and most recently spent weeks screwing Batista out of title matches, including pulling a referee out of the ring when Batista was about to win his Beat the Clock match. Rey is a little asshole. Haha! Well said. I think it's the Hornswoggle phenomenon, myself. Just because he's one of the tiniest guys on the roster, it means that he is ALLOWED to do heelish things and get away with it, or that we're supposed to cheer him for doing it. Never made sense to me, but then again, I'm one of those who has found Rey to be one of the most static characters the WWE has ever produced. His promos suck....his voice is high pitched and whiney, giving him an irritating edge when he talks...and his character and move set have been the same for the past 12 years at LEAST. What they need to do is bring in some other masked luchadores to start taking the burden of being the ONLY one off of Rey...heck, bring in Shark Boy. He's got a mask that's guaranteed to sell a lot of replicas with the WWE machine behind it, and he's likely to have a few more years left in the tank than Mysterio. Either that, or hell, I don't know....have one of those big guys that Rey is constantly going over just decimate and retire him at WrestleMania.

I don't get why people can't buy him as a legit threat against bigger guys. In REAL fighting such as MMA size doesn't really matter at all. Wrestling fans only complain about realism when something they don't like has happened and it's usually an odd sort of phenomenon where what they're complaining about being unrealistic is often very realistic. I remember people complaining about Mark Henry's unrealistic win over Kane using a bearhug when in actuality if you had a 400 pound man squeezing around your midsection for close to a minute full force it would probably hurt more than a chokeslam. so in this scenario since everyone thinks Punk should be world champion on all brands and leading a stable of roughly 75 people....there's no way that someone slightly smaller than him could ever beat him in a wrestling match.

Rey is a little asshole. I dislike Rey because I want Batista to be put over as a top heel. I think he's taking a spot that doesn't belong to him right now as a main eventer. But I agree with others who have said that Rey had one of the best years ever in 2009 and made a whole lot of people look good. This whole underdog push that he's getting right now is just a little irritating because I don't think it has a place on the road to Wrestlemania 26. I am certain that they aren't going to do anything with him, so why have him involved when he's just going to end up either in the MITB or fighting Drew McIntyre at Mania?

I was fine with Rey winning,as long as Punk got his heat back. Why do people talk about how Rey shouldn't win because he's undersized and is very unrealistic against big men,but moan about Evan Bourne losing and how he's getting buried. The complaint can go both ways, and by the way PUSH BOURNE!!!!

It doesn't? Then why do they have weight classes? Because they are real fighters. WWE shows are about a fake sport, with plastic rules, and obvious flaws that only work because the audience purposely suspends their disbelief. The WWE does NOT have weight classes because they want to have people like Rey and Bourne win sometimes. They have a belt title called "heavyweight" ONLY to support the lineage of that belt title, but it might as well be called the "World Smackdown Championship". Agreed....which was my point.

I always love how 'smart fans' still manage to get all upset when their favourites lose, or people they don't like win.
Anyway, given the rumours, this board is gonna be a hell of a lot of fun when Rey Rey beats him at WM and shaves his head.

What's the big deal? Rey always makes others look good and brings out the best in them. It's hard to look good when you're wobbling around for 5 minutes waiting for him to set up for the 619 or falling prey to the dreaded TADPOLE SPLASH

Even if some of us are smart....there is still a smidge of markiness in us all. I never got the hate for Rey, I'm a big fan of the guy. He's one of the best wrestlers in the company dispite all of his injuries he has.

If Rey was to f***ing disappear I'd be a happy man. I've hated that f***ing piece of crap for damn near a decade and not one match in the past four years he's been in has entertained me at f***ing all.

Going by billed heights/weights, Punk is 7 inches taller and and almost fifty pounds heavier. That's a lot more than slightly; that's almost as bad as when someone said Drew McIntyre was only slightly bigger than Brian Kendrick.

Are we really complaining about Rey going over people?
Rey, the weakest booked WHC in history?

It's not Ray doing it. It is the fact that creative uses very powerful narcotics on a daily basis, or at least when writing shows. Misterio as a main eventer reeks of desperation.

No, if he ever goes over Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan, you'll see a similar thread (And that time, I'd actually support it). If anyone goes over Bryan Danielson, these boards are going to go mad,its going to be fun to see the board when he loses! Its sad that people keep having a pop at Rey Rey.The guy continues to put on top matches in the company.Im sure if Rey had beaten Triple H clean then a lot of the same people would be congratulating him. Doesn't that make you as bad as his most hardcore fans? that's like me saying i can't wait to put this cinder block in the middle of the highway so i can enjoy the 20 car pileup that ensues.

What's the big deal? Rey always makes others look good and brings out the best in them. See Dolph Ziggler, John Morrison, Chavo Guerrero, Chris Jericho and even Punk himself. He always sells AFTER the match and barely ever botches and he does highflying moves. Unlike Kofi Kingston, who is pretty much a jumping botch machine nowadays. And John Cena who completely forgets that his arm or leg was worked on for... I don't know, the past 20 minutes as soon as the match ends. Don't forget that superman recovery. Rey Mysterio is the LAST person who needs to put anybody over, when John Cena and Triple H do their bit, then you can come and call 619. Dugg for "Jumping Botch Machine"

the only reason people are upset is because he beat CM Flunk. If it had been Jericho or somebody else, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I actually liked his match with Punk, one of his best in a while, IMO. Lately I can't stand Rey, but I think alot of it has to do with the David/Goliath booking. Plus his matches with big guys are always the same match. He does alot better with wrestlers closer to his size. I also miss the high risk high flying Rey from his WCW days, and to anyone that says he isn't past his prime, watch his matches in ECW and the WCW cruiserweight division. Also, whoever brought up bringing back the cruiserweight title, I would love to see that happen.

Exactly. I also want to clarify that it's not because he went over CM Punk. The David/Goliath scenario is very stale and I just wish he'd do something... anything else. His character and moveset are beyond stale.

Outside of whenever he went after the Cruiserweight belt and that feud with Chavo in 2006, how many of Rey's feuds WEREN'T focused around that whole "big guy/little guy" scenario?
