I feel if they're going to ditch Survivor Series, ditch the other PPVs around that time, block-tape the TV and let the roster have a decent Christmas break. Then come back in the New Year to build for the Royal Rumble.

Sayanora to the Survivor Series. There's been a lot of great ones.
Really curious as to what they'll do in November now. Maybe we'll finally see War Games in WWE?

And the recession corpses keep piling up. This is a really stupid thought, but I wonder how much of the audience spent its "Survivor Series money" on Avatar? Maybe having fixed "event" PPVs other than WM (which will always be big enough to stand on its own two feet) isn't a good idea. Its a much more chaotic and vast media environment than it used to be and you never know when a huge event will arise.

Survivor Series is my favourite PPV of the year because the elimination matches are my favourite gimmicked matches. I wouldn't be happy if they did change the name but I could live with it if they kept the elimination match gimmick.

So, I guess this means they are not bringing back King of the Ring?

It's sad to see it go, but I can't remember a decent Survivor Series since 2002, and that was more or less just a regular PPV.

I cry at most everything, but reading this made me a little teary eyed. Like, the Jumping Bomb Angels' big showing, Demolition/Powers of Pain double turn, the Gooker, "hey everybody, order Tuesday in Texas to see all of these angles be resolved", the Perfect team, Afa eating a turkey carcass, Bret dropping his title to Backlund, Diesel going nuts after losing his title to Bret, the debut of The Rock, and Montreal.... so many great memories every year that I've seen of it, and such a fixture of the history of the product.
Of course I'll never order a PPV so they might as well do whatever.

I've always wondered if Survivor Series would've done better in recent years if they hadn't almost completely abandoned the original concept.
Granted, part of the PPV's appeal in it's early days was that there were only a few big shows per year, so there was a limited supply of shows but a huge demand, and the gimmick was a nice hook for it, but the fact remains that, for years and years now, Survivor Series has essentially come off as a "typical" pay per view.

The only way I won't be pissed off with the name change of Survivor Series is if they replace it as a War Games gimmick PPV.

Creatively, they haven't given a damn about Survivor Series for about four years now, so its no surprise that the buyrates for that event have been plummeting. Sad really, because I always enjoyed the elimination matches.
The only way I'll be happy about this is if KOTR replaces it.

Probably a good idea.
The Survivor series WAS a neat PPV. I haven't really been entertained by it in quite a few years now though.
Also I support a War Games replacement.

I'm actually upset by this news, I love Survivor Series and I can't believe for a second that WWE would want to get rid of it. Last years show was great I thought, much better than recent years.
Still at least I'll have my memories, the 1998 and 2002 shows were 2 of the best PPV's I've ever seen and in terms of drama 2001 and 2003 aren't far behind.

I will miss it, but really how shocked are you? WWE is in the process of reinventing itself for the new generation of fans. Our days of being their main draw are over. as long as they never get rid of the rumble. thats the one thing i still look forward too.

So, the fact that last year's Survivor Series came one day after a UFC PPV and they used comedy to build up the main event had nothing to do with the low buyrate?
