If this leads to WWE Single: No Manager, then I'm all for it.

Just combine their 2 ideas and make the main event of Survivor Series, War Games. Best of RAW v. Best of Smackdown in the dual rings and cage.

So, the fact that last year's Survivor Series came one day after a UFC PPV and they used comedy to build up the main event had nothing to do with the low buyrate? The bigger question would be if SS buys had been dropping over several years and this latest drop was the last straw.

I'm surprised and sad really, perhaps more out of nostalgia but there was a lot of history to the event.
Yet if anything could make me feel better, it would be if Wargames took its place. I would seriously love to see that.

I was at Bragging Rights, and while it was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, I don't see how people would stay interested if the format stayed the same. I mean, there were only five matches on the card, and one of them was 60 minutes. We all were confused when we saw that it was a multi-man tag, with Survivor Series being the next ppv, so I guess they decided to kill one of their originals for a random ppv. I don't get it.

I say name it Starrcade for prestige, and make it feature Wargames. It would be huge.

WWE can change PPV names and use terms like "conceptual pay per view" or "rebranding" all they like. It wont change their writing, which is the problem. Not what the PPV is called.
I fail to see how the concept is outdated. Do teams of wrestlers never fight for anything anymore? This is just more WWE corporate speak. I could just as easily say "wrestlers fighting in a cage to leave through a door is a trite, outdated concept. From here on, we will not be having any cage matches" and that makes just as much sense.
The times when they actually bothered to book Survivor Series correctly and make it mean something, it was an exciting PPV.

Anyone know what the Bragging Right buys ended up as? I heard 169k. In the opening post: Bragging Rights (TM) / Cyber Sunday (R) (2009) 181,000 - (2008) 153,000

Survivor Series 08 title matches:
Jericho v Cena HHH v Jeff v Kozlov
Survivor Series 09 title matches:
Cena v HBK v HHH Taker v Show v Jericho
The difference? 08's main events actually had storylines behind them. They didn't even have a video package for the main event at SS09 because the feud was so pathetic.
Terrible move WWE.

If they replace it with War Games I'll be alright with this name change, but let it be known I'm upset with the end of Survivor Series. I think most of us fans here have fond memories of the event, and it really sucks to see a tradition like that get thrown in the garbage because of "buyrates"

You see stuff like this serves as a great reminder of why I have been smart to stay away from WWE for 3 years. I know things change but something that has history is a gimick in and of itself. WM sells because it's wrestlemania. SummerSlam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble all had unqiue elements that made them great but by now they have been around for so long that some PPV buyers/fans/marks or whatever buy just those ppv's because they have been around that long, they bought em the last 5 years, if they can afford only one or two you may as well make it a big show ect. I am sad to see it go just for history sake but m glad that I stopped watching so it dosn't kill me to see it happen. Screw you Vince I'm off to watch another show

It has outlived it's usefullness (sounds like such a heel thing to say lol).
I support Wargames.
MITB should stay at WM and the draft should stay on RAW.

Honestly, this doesn't bother me. For about ten years now, the "big four" have been the Royal Rumble, No Way Out/Elimination Chamber, Wrestlemania, and Summerslam. Backlash, the "day after Thanksgiving" of pay-per-views, would be number five. As for what should replace it, I too would have to go with Wargames. As I said in the other thread, pitting the Straight Edge Society against whoever in a Wargames match would be awesome. Battlebowl would be interesting as well.

I like the idea Diva Dirt brought up - move Night of Champions to November and make it the fourth of the Big 4.

Worth noting that, with 283,000 buys, the Hell In A Cell PPV was the fourth highest grossing PPV this year for them.
Maybe they'll start building that up as a bigger card from now on.
