IMO, their first two albums where hands down their best work, then Minutes to Midnight releases and they change their style to a more "everyday rock" kind of thing. I personally prefer their old rap rock/nu metal-ish sound, and their take on the genre was truly unique. The only song I actually liked from MtM was "What I've Done", and that's probably due to watching the first Transformers movie a lot at the time.
Anyone else miss the pre-MtM Linkin Park?

I hate how a good chunk of the MtM songs have freaking rhythmic clapping in them......

MTM wasn't that bad looking back, it's just not evolved enough for a band as mature as Linkin Park.
The fourth album is the decider for me.

MtM isn't the worst album in the world, but as a hardcore fan at the time, you didn't know how disappointed I was with it.
I could care less about the band now. I moved on with other music. Plus, about 90% of their fanbase are just as bad as Twilight.

Honestly, I do miss their old style. I never though the music itself was immature, but maybe so of the lyrics were, though that was mostly from Hybrid Theory.
I loved Meteora and still think its their best album.

Plus, about 90% of their fanbase are just as bad as Twilight. This is exactly my situation. I'm not into LP anymore like I was a few years ago, but I just started listening to Hybrid Theory and Meteora again recently (I was getting a little tired of my current playlist), and asked myself "What the hell happened?". Minutes to Midnight wasn't a BAD album by any means, but compare to their first two albums, it just didn't have that "umph" that made them awesome in the first place.

Strangely I've never been a fan of theirs but I love it when they collaborate with other artists, I was a big fan of the Collision Course thing with Jay Z and I even liked the Reanimation album back when. So, it's kinda weird. Totally meh about them by themselves, but like them with other people in the mix. Although Papercut and Points of Authority, as you posted, were the strongest tracks from Hybrid Theory, I can say that about 'em.

They had done that sound to death on their first two albums and it was a dead genre by then any way. I wouldn't want to make the same album over and over and over either.

I don't miss them, but think HT and Meteora are their best albums.

This made my day. I honestly have a hard time believing anybody over the age of 17 still listens to Linkin Park, or ever did for that matter. I know I'm wrong. Meh.

I'm 21 and I still listen to classic Disney songs. The age that you are really doesn't always effect the music you listen to. If I liked the song when I was 12 or 13, I'll probably like it when I'm 30. Probably not as much, mind you, but there's no reason why I would suddenly dislike it.

What's the difference between old and new? Did Chester stop shrieking about how his dad didn't hug him and how tough it was being "male, middle-class, and white" and finally grow up?

they only REFINED their sound, making it more professionally sounding ..... but that dosn't mean their early stuff was lax!
