Since XPW doesn't exist any more (meaning it can't get any better--not that it ever would) and had no real redeeming qualities, it seems like a good candidate to be inducted into WrestleCrap's hallowed Halls of Suckdom. But I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks. Do YOU think XPW was crap and should be inducted?

Not sure that XPW as a whole should be inducted, but most definitely a lot of the stuff they turned out deserves it. I only ever watched one tape of XPW, and found not only that the gimmicks were largely beyond offensive, but that the production values sucked and the ring work itself was, for the most part, atrocious. The only saving grace of XPW was that it became home to so many ex-WCW and ECW wrestlers. In some ways, I blame Paul Heyman. As innovative and cool as ECW was at its height, nevertheless, he raised the bar of poor taste so high that the many ECW imitators since have tried to go even further. XPW had a wrestling clown based off one of the worst serial killers in history, a whole host of porn stars and strippers of all variety of skanktitude, so called "hardcore" matches that had ridiculously long names, and some of the worst mic work I have ever heard. And as I recall, New Jack almost killed someone. Amazing to me they lasted as long as they did.

To me, XPW was what many people (ones that had never seen ECW) assumed ECW was--garbage wrestling and lots of blood. I can't remember anything good coming from the promotion.

Maybe some things they did, but not the promotion as a whole

If you did this however you would open up a HOST of indies.
Because if you do XPW, what about Jasmine St. Claire walking out on 3pw or the John Zandig CZW hook hanging incident.
I say instead something like wierd world of wrestling should be created with the worst of the indies as a side induction
that way all of xpw's crap can be inducted without lumping the good with the bad.

I wouldn't blame Heyman because Heyman knew how to entertain. XPW was nothing but a poor attempt of recreating that feel. By hiring all the former ECW talent they could. But there problem is they knew nothing about booking a good match. None of there matches were nothing close to being as good as ECW.
As poor taste some of ECW was. ECW wasn't going that direction of being that poor like ECW was. ECW had good wrestling. ECW didn't have the gimmicks like a hardcore homo and stuff. XPW was Shane Douglas being the HHH of the company but with crap for matches. Even with some great talent on roster like Jerry Lynn and ext. There matches were not as good as it could have been.

I don't think you could classify XPW as a whole as wrestlecrap; yes, it most definitely sucked, but so did most WWE-related stuff last year, and that's no reason to say that WWE as a whole was wrestlecrap in 2006.
Unlike WCW, which was chock-full of wrestlecrap gimmicks, characters, angles, and match stipulations, XPW was simply bad. The only two good things that ever came out of XPW were (1) The Messiah, and (2) Juventud Guerrera's "Juice House" Promo (look it up on youtube; it's awesome).

It was LA so people didn't notice. You forgot the worst name of all - Messiah. I don't think religion should even be touched in wrestling especially. The dude had his thumb cut off supposely by two guys by Black. Messiah was an awesome worker, and was pretty creative as far as his gimmick was concerned (When the crowd would chant things like "Holy S**t," Messiah would cover his ears and yell at them to stop ).

I think XPW should be inducted because it never presented ANYTHING of real value. WWE, WCW, and ECW all have.

It could have been a good alternative, but MTV gave a classic lesson in how not to run a wrestling promotion. The announcer and commentators sucked to the point that made me long for a Rob Bartlett/Steve McMichael/David Crockett commentary tandem. They squeeze 2 matces into 30 minutes. Landmines and piranhas. A run down arena with about as much atmosphere as AWA's Big Pink Room.

The only thing I even remember about XPW was some horrible angle where one of the strip...errr, I mean "valets" had to give Lizzie Borden a full on lap dance in the middle of the ring.

This thread isn't about WSX, it's about XPW. Well, they do have something in common: Kris Kloss as play-by-play commentator. Kris Kloss, by the way, was by far my favorite thing about XPW because of those random ReDead-like (the screaming zombie creature in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) shrieks he would emit every time something extreme happened. I haven't watched WSX at all, does the guy still do that?

Well not knowing really the mainstream of XPW at the time... I saw Shane Douglas was coming back to town (pittsburgh) for a show and he was in the main event even champion at the time. So being the Douglas marks that we are a friend and me went to the show. And it was almost like an ECW type show that saw no really insane hardcore moves, only one major bump and showcased some great wrestling. After coming home from the event I saw the crap and hardcore part of XPW and was turned away from it.... But about 3 weeks after that show they were no more. But my point is for 3 hrs one night they gave me a great show.

I looked up the Juice promo on Youtube. Wow. Just wow. Never watched XPW, so I can't say, but generally indy stuff is given some slack but because if you wanted to induct indy stuff, you'd need RD to make like 5,000 clones of himself to induct them all.

I really want to see Messiah work now, I've only heard little things about him before this thread. hes a pretty good brawler, and can pull of some nice technical moves that you would've never thought he could pull off. His best work though has been in CZW. He doesn't go hardcore with the gimmick like he did in XPW, but he's wrestling better guys (in XPW, he wrestled mainly some fatass with no talent named Supreme). I've met Messiah several times, cool guy. Anyways, XPW did do a lot of things that were crap (and let me reiterate, I HATE XPW for what they did when they came to Philly). To name a few; Pogo the Clown(they even had him adduct a kid and Big Dick Dudley had to save the kid), The Rob Black puppy/snake/PETA/LAPD fiasco(long story), New Jack almost killing Vic Grimes, Supreme almost getting burnt to death (and this was was not an unfortunate accident. It was an accident, but everyone saw something bad coming) Angel the Hardcore Homo GQ Money Steve Rizzano losing to a gorilla Raw feces match Buck Naked match (never got to see the women naked) Having a show called Operation Shock and Awe right in the middle of the Iraqi War. Julio Deniero in a string thong. The Hostile Takeover of Philly If anybody wants me to elaborate on any these, please just ask.
