The only real damage the destruction of the Big 12 conference will do is kill some legendary rivalries, like Oklahoma and Nebraska. Sadly Big XII killed it about 15 years ago with the divisions. Plus side is if the expansions happen, we can see OU vs Big Red in Rose Bowl or the National Title Game. That is true. At least if the expansions happen, the more...important....rivalries will remain intact, like OU vs. Texas, OK State vs. OU, Texas vs. A&M, and Texas vs. Tech.

The only real damage the destruction of the Big 12 conference will do is kill some legendary rivalries, like Oklahoma and Nebraska. They could still play non-conference games against each other. In fact, they could play more if they were in different conferences than they do being in different divisions in the same conferences. True, that is very true. I mean Iowa & Iowa State have kept their rivalry up via non-conference games each year.

I mean if Baylor comes instead of CU, the only difference between now and the future is that you add AU and ASU yearly with 2 PAC 8 teams a year.

Ok, I haven't been keeping up with college football at all since the Draft. What in the hell is going on? All I see/hear is "the Big 12 South is joining the Pac 10, the North is joining the Big 10, and college football will be ruined forever". Is that the gist of it? Basically, despite having two of the top 5 most successful/popular universities in the nation, Texas and Oklahoma, the conference has been lacking in terms of money, this is mainly cause, the conference DOES make a lot of money, but nearly all of it is going to Texas and Oklahoma. The big 12 North is pretty much broke at this point. In the Big 12 South, Oklahoma St., Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Baylor have done so-so, but let's put it like this, if it was for T. Boone Pickens, Oklahoma St. wouldn't have gotten their new facilities/stadiums. And if the Big 12 supported the vote to get even just a 4 team playoff established, this could've given the conference a large cash flow, but, they said no to the playoffs, despite the conference REALLY needing the money that would've come from a playoff. So, now the conference is in near 100% total financial ruin and any team in the conference that would turn down joining a perennial money making conference like the Pac-10 or Big 10 would be a fool at this point, so the Big 10 is going to cherry pick the "best" from the Big 12 North, which aren't much, and the Pac-10 looks to absorb the whole of the Big 12 South, thus leaving the remaining teams in the Big 12 North to be split up between the Mountain West, Conference-USA, or the Mid-America, the three conferences closest to the Big 12 schools(wouldn't make sense for the WAC, Big East, or ACC to make a move on a Big 12 team, due to location, I COULD see the SEC trying, but they probably won't). So in short, Don Beebe is a bit stupid, Missouri is going to the Big 10, and we're getting expanded conferences. Got it.

Big East/ACC will Merge. And we will see 4 major conferences and the birth of playoffs. By going to major conferences and Big XII and Big East die, the chance of playoffs goes way up.

Kansas is now worried about not going anywhere. You'd have to think that their basketball program would be enough for consideration, but if it's not, they're getting a really raw deal out of it. sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5262068

Not being in a BCS conference would be pretty big for them.

Not that they'll be independent. Not being in a BCS conference would be pretty big for them. They have a home in Mountain West, as does the other Kansas school and Baylor/CU. And that conference is about to become BCS. Will that conference be on the Same level as SEC/Big Pac or Midwest conference? No Will Mountain West have a chance to become the number 4 conference and surpass Big East/ACC conferences: Yes

The NYT is reporting that Notre Dame and the Big Ten are negotiating. As much as it pains me to say it: Its time. The environment of college football has changed so much that if the Irish want to stay relevent and get anywhere close to where they were in the lats 80s and early 90s it has to happen. Hopefully we can keep USC on the schedule. Its a great rivalry.

Colorado's regents are meeting right now and could make a statement as soon as tomorrow about the school's future.
Rumor is they may be trying to jump to the Pac Ten ahead of Texas to ensure that they're not squeezed out by Baylor.

And from the Dallas Morning News Good. The Pac 10 would have to be majorly idiotic to invite Baylor over Colorado, even though I know, the only reason Baylor would be considered is because they are like the untalented younger brother who gets a spot on the team because the talented older brother demands it.

Makes sense, also, since the Pac-10 already has two teams comprised of total suck, Washington and Washington State. Adding Baylor into the mix would just be cruel....

USC and the eventual number 1 pick in the Draft Jake Locker, would like to dispute your claim that Washington is comprised of total suck. Washington State, yeah they do suck, Baylor could be good if Robert Griffin is healthy.
