Dennis Dodd is reporting that the Big Ten is looking at Syracuse as a possible expansion candidate.
The idea is that grabbing Mizzou, Nebraska, Rutgers, and Syracuse will collapse both the Big 12 and the Big East, meaning that Notre Dame has to look hard at joining the Big Ten or risk being left out of conferences until the next major realignment.
Jim Delaney of the Big Ten has also said that expansion "could come in stages", implying that they make an immediate offer to bring in three schools for a 14-team league and then have room to expand into a 16-team league if they can firm up other commitments.
And The Pac 10 president has been given the authority to extend bids for expansion and is expected to do so this week.
If they do so and, as expected, they invite 6 Big 12 teams. Rumor is that Baylor has replace Colorado as one of the Teams

So, if the MWC does expand to grab up whatever teams are left from the Big 12 and take some WAC teams, would the BCS make the MWC a BCS conference? Probably not, but someone is gonna have to fill the void left by the Big 12, which will be gutted, btw.

I hope the Pac-10 doesn't expand. I want WSU sports to succeed in my lifetime A stronger conference can really help that. Even bad SEC teams get more consideration from being in the SEC, and good recruits look to them because they know they'll get TV time. If a Big Pac conference came out, it'd likely lift them up.

Calling the Pac-10 anything dealing with the Pacific coast wouldn't make much sense, cause if they do basically just take the Big 12 South and absorb it, almost half of the conference won't be on the Pacific coast. I think a name like the Big West would make more sense, since all the teams in it will be arguably the biggest teams in the Western half of the nation.

Ok, I haven't been keeping up with college football at all since the Draft. What in the hell is going on? All I see/hear is "the Big 12 South is joining the Pac 10, the North is joining the Big 10, and college football will be ruined forever".
Is that the gist of it?

I'm not liking how that sounds...

Ok, I haven't been keeping up with college football at all since the Draft. What in the hell is going on? All I see/hear is "the Big 12 South is joining the Pac 10, the North is joining the Big 10, and college football will be ruined forever". Is that the gist of it? Basically, despite having two of the top 5 most successful/popular universities in the nation, Texas and Oklahoma, the conference has been lacking in terms of money, this is mainly cause, the conference DOES make a lot of money, but nearly all of it is going to Texas and Oklahoma. The big 12 North is pretty much broke at this point. In the Big 12 South, Oklahoma St., Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Baylor have done so-so, but let's put it like this, if it was for T. Boone Pickens, Oklahoma St. wouldn't have gotten their new facilities/stadiums. And if the Big 12 supported the vote to get even just a 4 team playoff established, this could've given the conference a large cash flow, but, they said no to the playoffs, despite the conference REALLY needing the money that would've come from a playoff. So, now the conference is in near 100% total financial ruin and any team in the conference that would turn down joining a perennial money making conference like the Pac-10 or Big 10 would be a fool at this point, so the Big 10 is going to cherry pick the "best" from the Big 12 North, which aren't much, and the Pac-10 looks to absorb the whole of the Big 12 South, thus leaving the remaining teams in the Big 12 North to be split up between the Mountain West, Conference-USA, or the Mid-America, the three conferences closest to the Big 12 schools(wouldn't make sense for the WAC, Big East, or ACC to make a move on a Big 12 team, due to location, I COULD see the SEC trying, but they probably won't).

Nah, its looking like 4 major conferences: Big PAC-Western Conferance SEC-Southern BIG Tensixtenn-Midwest ACC/Big East-East Coast With 2 secondary ones: MAC/WAC BigEast/CUSA And Lesser conferences: MAC Sun Belt

The only real damage the destruction of the Big 12 conference will do is kill some legendary rivalries, like Oklahoma and Nebraska.

In fact, they could play more if they were in different conferences than they do being in different divisions in the same conferences.
