What if the first Star Wars ended with the rebels losing? Depends who the rebels are in that analogy. Because if anything, I'd think it'd be Nexus.

In other news: I see that Melina stole Kurt Angle's chicken suit.

You were the one who compared Nexus and the nWo. And it only led to the demise of the company because they didn't know when to quit with it. Because long-term heel wins not punctuated by face victories (which is ultimately what this Summerslam apparently was) don't draw. McMahon had Hogan dominate worse than Cena for a decade and made boatloads of money. Crockett and Bischoff (and later Russo) did heelcentric booking and all failed. Even with a loss, Nexus is still easily the strongest heel group since Evolution in WWE.

It doesn't matter how much they short-term draw if they end up turning off the audience that watched in the first place. Starrcade 97 was all well and good but the company was sucking fumes two years from then.

Starrcade 97 was all well and good but the company was sucking fumes two years from then. But that's the point. If they ended it there, like they should have, it would have been one of the most successful angles ever. Resurrecting the nWo under various incarnations, not pushing new talent, terrible angles, the rise of Steve Austin, these are what turned people off WCW. It had nothing to do with the original nWo angle. If it turned people off, why were WCW constantly beating their own records for ratings, buyrates, ticket sales, just about everything?

Prepare for a shock
I didn't mind the finish.
Yes it kinda sucks that SuperCena struck again, but I hope I'm not the only one who noticed why.
It Was 10:57.
The PPV had to end by 11:00 so they had to end the match ASAP or face a stiff fine.
So I get the hurried finish, I don't care for it entirely, but I understand.
And yes, I'm bummed that Cena is still a face, but it's not the end of the angle, let alone the world.
(I am unsure if anyone brought up the time thing in a earlier post, but I don't have the patience to read the entire thread right now.)
So, everyone just chill, at least until 11:15 tomorrow.

I have to say, not counting HBK/Taker 2 I can't remember the last time I was on the edge of my seat for a WWE match. WWE did a great job in my opinion.
Yes I would've liked Nexus winning, but I will hold off my judgment on the angle until RAW is over.

Well we can all agree that the SES is dead right? Maybe the beginning of the end with Punk abandoning them like that. But then again maybe not.

What if the first Star Wars ended with the rebels losing? In that case, I expect the "Empire Strikes Back" where Nexus scores a major victory to come real soon.

This show had good points and bad points.
-Only 6 matches, fine for a smaller ppv, but not for one of the Big Four.
-They're teasing unifying the Women's and Divas Titles again, with the Melina/LayCool feud. This time, just do it. One less useless title, and maybe its spot can be taken by re-introducing the Cruiserweight Title, something Bourne and Gabriel could feud over in a side issue in the red-hot Nexus feud.
-Nothing really spectacular except for the final match.
-I did not see Daniel Bryan coming back, but I marked out like a little kid seeing him.
-Disappointing match finish. I would've had it come down to Cena and Bryan vs. Barrett. Cena gets DQ'ed so he still looks strong, and THEN we have Miz come in and cost Bryan the match. This way, Nexus still looks unstoppable, and two major storylines (Cena/Barrett and Miz/Bryan) are preserved without making either side look weak.

Why do smarks constantly want Cena to turn heel so badly? I mean I know he's stale as hell as a face but like it or not he's the best they're got at the moment.
If anyone thinks Orton is the man to be the new face of the WWE then I feel your in for a disappointment because eventually people will grow tired of him as a face and his merchandise won't sell like it used to so they will inevitably turn him hell again. It's been the story of Randy's career.
As for Nexus they'll get there win back at Survivor Series anyway so why all the bitching about what happened at SummerSlam?

They should have realized that and skipped the unnecessary DDT on the floor. It was just totally un-needed if the match was going to end that quickly.

I don't think people even want Cena to turn heel, they just want him to have an edge again. Though Randy Orton kinda fills the edgy face slot now. If anyone thinks Orton is the man to be the new face of the WWE then I feel your in for a disappointment because eventually people will grow tired of him as a face and his merchandise won't sell like it used to so they will inevitably turn him hell again. It's been the story of Randy's career. I don't see why people would tire of Orton as long as he fills that edgy face role I mentioned. It was pretty much the crowd who turned him in the first place. I don't see why he and Cena can't co-exist since they appeal to two different demographics. As for Nexus they'll get there win back at Survivor Series anyway so why all the bitching about what happened at SummerSlam? Why would they? The faces win in the end. That was the point. We know Cena is eventually gonna run roughshod over Nexus so why not give them a big win while they can?
