Seems there's a lot of people disappointed that Nexus lost. I'm one of them as it's going to be harder to build them up as a threat. I didn't like the way Cena got demolished only to make his Superman comeback. I also didn't think it was believable that Daniel Bryan would join team WWE.
If I were booking I'd switch the roles around so it was Daniel Bryan attacking The Miz, allowing him to get pinned. I'd have the Cena beatdown with a small comeback only for him to pinned.
Next Night on Raw I'd have Wade fire 4 of the weaker members, lose to Cena due to interference from Bret Hart. Build up to a 3 on 3 at Hell in a Cell. Have Nexus win that match.

Next Night on Raw I'd have Wade fire 4 of the weaker members, lose to Cena due to interference from Bret Hart. Build up to a 3 on 3 at Hell in a Cell. Have Nexus win that match. Nexus have been booked as nearly NWO like unstoppable by the company for 3 months now and a result like last night's makes the feud even handed which all good feuds should be. When Bret Hart and Steve Austin began their program in late '96 where Austin, like Nexus, basically got the drop on Bret seemingly over and over again their first match on ppv resulted in Hart winning cleanly. As I wasn't on the net then I wonder if people were so easily forecasting doom and gloom for Steve (who as we all know NEVER got a clean victory over Hart anyway despite the feud lasting until the summer of '97). On your other point about Bryan the kayfabe reason is that he 'showed remorse' for his actions. And assuming they have him fully explain himself on RAW he can very easily say that he was emotionally manipulated by Barrett or whomever is actually responsible for Nexus forming. Bryan, when all this started, had problems with Cole and Miz(who both have been exempt from the attacks by Nexus since) on NXT and it's obvious that he was being presented as the babyface in that angle.

I thought this was the best PPV I've seen in years. I was thoroughly impressed with the whole show.

I'm ashamed of every fan who chanted 'thank you Barrett' when he DDT'd Cena on the concrete. Idiots.

The problem is despite how dominant they look, it's established that they can't beat Cena. Which means going into the next month or so, it's going to be that same result.
And if this stable's still around with Trips comes back.... ugh.

And if this stable's still around with Trips comes back.... ugh. Cena beat Gabriel and Barrett via flukes. It was their inexperience that cost them the match. But they put on a fantastic showing anyway.

Watching the show again and Big Show looks great. He looks like he lost 50lbs.

I enjoyed a lot of the matches, but didnt like a lot of the endings. Good show, though, all around.

The only thing I REALLY didn't like is the DQ finish. 2 Big PPVs with Sheamus/Orton for Sheamus' title, and THEY BOTH END IN DQ!??!?!?!?
But I did notice some parallels to this and WM26:
-Both shows had a non title main event, with the world title matches right before it. -In the secondary world title match, the heel champion escapes with their title and gets beat up by the face after the match. -CM Punk lost at both -Bret competed at both -Big Show won at both -The Nexus (and DB) appeared at the preshow battle royal at WM, watching the match. At SummerSlam, they were in the main event

It doesn't matter how much they short-term draw if they end up turning off the audience that watched in the first place. Starrcade 97 was all well and good but the company was sucking fumes two years from then. But that's the point. If they ended it there, like they should have, it would have been one of the most successful angles ever. Resurrecting the nWo under various incarnations, not pushing new talent, terrible angles, the rise of Steve Austin, these are what turned people off WCW. It had nothing to do with the original nWo angle. If it turned people off, why were WCW constantly beating their own records for ratings, buyrates, ticket sales, just about everything? Agree with your point, but this seems more like if Hogan would have walked down at Bash at the Beach 1996, and instead of legdropping Savage, attacking Hall and Nash allowing Team WCW to win.

It wasn't that decisive. Cena won by the skin of his teeth.

Gotta say, my heart melted a little at the rather large pop Dolph's sleeperhold got. That was awesome!

If you told me at the beginning of the year that Bret Hart, 7 FCWers and Bryan Danielson were going to main event Summerslam, I would have told you to quit raiding Jeff Hardy's cupboards.

Because heaven forbid, people don't like somebody who has been shoved down our throat for half a decade now. No. Booing him, fair enough, but that's akin to hoping the guy gets a career ending injury.
