You can make Triple H the mastermind behind all three of the big WWE mysteries: 1. He's the Mystery GM because Vince decided to give his son-in-law a chance to run the company's flagship brand, but kept people in the dark because they wanted to keep the locker room from complaining about nepotism. 2. He backs Nexus because they are the future of the company he wants to take over. 3. He beat up the Undertaker for retiring Shawn Michaels, his best friend. It could even explain why the Nexus guys have left Sheamus alone; Triple H wants to deal with him personally when he heals from the beatdown he got from him. Also, looking outside the storyline, it gives one of their bigger names something to do while he can't compete for the next several months. But would that turn Sheamus face?

Or it could simply be the case of one heel hating another heel. That's kind of happening right now with Sheamus and Nexus anyway.

Too bad Paul Heyman will never work for WWE again. He'd be an EXCELLENT mastermind. After being the man behind ECW and Brock Lesnar, he's now bringing about the next evolution in pro wrestling, while conducting a hostile takeover of the WWE and FINALLY defeating Vince, something he's dreamed of for years.

Nexus have a big giant Gold square with a N for their logo.
The mastermind is Goldust.

Turning Triple H heel and making him the leader of Nexus might be a good idea, not so much for Barrett and friends themselves, but in the sense that WWE has too many major, big-name faces at the moment without enough credible heel opponents, and this would even the odds a fair bit.
Besides, the main reason Triple H has been a face for the last several years has been to milk as much money as possible from the annual Degeneration-X reunions, and with Shawn gone, we're done with those.

If Cena is behind Nexas, it will win the Gooker for this year AND next year. Even Vince Russo wouldn't be so dumb.
HHH I can stand behind. 1. He won't squash the group 2. I like him much better as a heel. 3. It makes sense. He wants to take over WWE since everybody by now knows he is Vince's son-in-law.

Bubba the Love Sponge is obviously the leader. No other solution.

If there is some truth to this and it turns out to be HHH, I just hope we don't open Raw every week with a 20-minute, self-aggrandizing HHH promo.

Turning the biggest pro wrestling draw in the world(Cena) heel when you just created seven new heels?
Geez, it's no wonder the WWE never listens to the internet.

Just wondering but why does there even need to be a mastermind at all? Jericho is the only guy that makes a lick of sense given the current storylines, but it is almost too obvious. Isn't it almost more intense when there really is no rhyme or reason to the violence beyond the Nexus guys wanting titles and domination over Raw?

How could you POSSIBLY have Cena as the leader? Theres been too much gone both ways. HHH hasnt worked heel since 2005 (tweener in early 2006). If he is in a non-wrestling role, then it could be good. "Hey I beat the s*** out of Darren Young, JUST KIDDING!" That's what they want you to think... when the reality is... HE IS DARREN YOUNG! Yes just like the doink the clown mirror trick at Wrestlemania 9 the "beating" was nothing but an optical illusion!

Most people WOULD like it to just be Nexus acting on their own, but there have been hints that someone else is involved. The mystery GM seems to be helping them out, and Barret keeps dropping hints about "a bigger picture".

Sounds like NEWZ to me. I know that they've been tossing ideas around, but having it be someone like HHH defeats the idea of it being a youth movement in WWE (which is what I was hoping it'd become). However, it would make sense, as Trips is starting to edge closer to the end of his career, and it could be spun as HHH making his final power play to take over the WWE. I'd hate to see it be him, but it could definitely work.
Cena as the driving force of the Nexus, on the other hand...yeah, that may be the worse idea WWE's ever come up with.
However, I would like to see Sheamus join the Nexus either way.

I have no issue with it being HHH as long as it doesn't end up with him having the belt.

I can see HHH as the GM and eventual leader of Nexus.
I know this isn't a very popular opinion, but at MITB, Sheamus will successfully defend his title. As soon as the cage is lifted up, the Nexus will come out, seemingly to attack the weakened John Cena. As they're surrounding Cena, Barrett gestures and they go for Sheamus! The next night on Raw, the GM will be pleased that the Nexus finally took out Sheamus "and it's the beginning of the bigger picture if- um... if you SMELLLLLLLLLLLL what the GM is COOKING!"
So yeah HHH wanted revenge on Sheamus, the whole take out Cena so Sheamus can pin thing was part of the masterplan all along.

Cena turning heel to fight Orton I don't think is the problem. The fact that one of the biggest moments in recent wrestling history (Cena turning heel) would be done via the worlds dumbest ever turn, is why people are against it.

So during the main event where the Nexus is beating down Sheamus, Orton, and Kofi or something. John Cena will walk down the aisle pointing at the ring menacingly. Matt Striker will then blurt out on commentary, "Yeah, but who's side is he on?!"
Then John Cena will drop the 5 knuckle shuffle on Orton.
I can only hope that on that night, another amorphous blob of a human tries to storm the ring. History repeating itself is funny.
