I also like the way they said that all chops are banned except the chops that people are doing and will probably continue doing after this report

Because everyone knows Flair went to TNA and if someone on WWE gets chopped we all instantly think TNA....um no Vince.
TNA isn't that special.

THE TRUTH ON WWE BANNING PEOPLE FROM DOING THE RIC FLAIR CHOP by Dave Scherer @ 9:49 AM on 7/6/2010 Arda Ocal sent the following to clear up an internet rumor that has been making the rounds over the past few days. This will clear it up. On the "Right After Wrestling" program, Arda Ocal and Jimmy Korderas cleared up the news circulating about the WWE banning the knife edge chop. Korderas explained that the move has actually been banned for years, back to when Ric Flair was still with the company. Only Flair and Shawn Michaels were allowed to use a knife edged chop - in fact at many events they would post "no chops!" signs at the gorilla position. You can hear that conversation in the latest Right After Wrestling podcast by clicking here.

So now that we know the reason the observer was giving is wrong and they were even banned while flair was still there, what on earth is the real reason? I don't really feel like listening to that but if it's mentioned it would be appreciated.

a knife edge chop is a very dangerous move. I imagine they let Flair do it for obvious reasons and HBK because he's a trusted veteran who used the move a lot.

SUNDAY: "God damn it! This is the most stupid thing to happen to wrestling since the chair shot ban! Vince McMahon is single handledly the dumbest man in the history of the world! He can't even run his own business properly!"
TUESDAY: "Wait- strike that..."

To sound like a complete noob temporarily, what is so dangerous about the knife edge chop?

To sound like a complete noob temporarily, what is so dangerous about the knife edge chop? It's not that they're dangerous (unless Kenta Kobashi is doing them to you, then maybe), the story is that Vince doesn't want guys doing them because they remind audiences of Flair and Flair is working for TNA now.

To sound like a complete noob temporarily, what is so dangerous about the knife edge chop? Maybe WWE doesn't want the talent having bruised and bloody chests. Or Divas to accidentally pop a implant. WWE take the cosmetic appearances of their folks seriously. People been fired from developmental for getting unauthorized tattoos.

WWE take the cosmetic appearances of their folks seriously. People been fired from developmental for getting unauthorized tattoos. That sounds rational, fair and reasonable to me. Flair and Shawn doing chops was an exception, same as Taker and Lawler can do the piledriver.

Or Divas to accidentally pop a implant. I can't remember Divas ever chopping each other across the rack. But then I can't really remember anything distinct from most Divas matches in general.

Trish Stratus used them regularly. Matter of fact, the Divas during her heyday (Jazz, Ivory, Gail Kim, Victoria, Jackie) used them. I remember Mickie James throwing a couple of them.
