I'll repost this here..... Already? Jesus, talk about a short leash. It's alright, I mean it's not like he nailed the biggest field goal in Saints history a few months ago. You need to get rid of the guy, he missed a regular season kick in week 3. Yeah, but keep in mind, he missed a very similar kick in Week 16 vs. Tampa Bay, same side of the field, same hashmark, that would won the game in regulation and secured home-field advantage a day earlier without having to worry about the Vikings-Bears game. And made a field goal with 4 seconds left to send the game to OT. Sean Payton's always had short leashes on kickers. Hartley's like the 5th or 6th kicker the Saints have had since Payton became head coach(John Carney, Billy Cundiff, Olindo Mare, Martin Gramatica).

What makes the Payton think he'll get someone better?

Sheesh, don't see blocked punts too often in the pros.

Honestly, I don't know. I think he should just stick with Hartley. He followed up going 0 for 2 against Minnesota with a 3 for 3 night in very windy conditions at Candlestick Park including the game winner. Not to mention following up that miss against the Bucs with a run in the playoffs including the game winner over the Vikings in OT and going 3 for 3 in the Super Bowl. He'll bounce back from the miss today.

What makes the Payton think he'll get someone better? Maybe, ironically, he thinks he'll get lucky like he did last year by signing an unknown like he did with Hartley.

Wow, the Dolphins with college level tackling. Two guys had Smith pinned in, and he just split them.

Actually, he signed Hartley near the end of '08. Hartley had been suspended the first four games last season for testing positive for Adderall and had been inactive up until the Washington game.

Glad to see the Jets sternly disciplined Braylon Edwards by sitting him for a quarter. That'll learn him!

bwhaha. No team screams discipline like the New York Jets.
...except maybe the Cowboys.

(sorry I'm late to the party. Went to the race in Dover and traffic was terrible)
Jets are their own worst enemy right now

Not to mention following up that miss against the Bucs with a run in the playoffs including the game winner over the Vikings in OT and going 3 for 3 in the Super Bowl. He'll bounce back from the miss today. And all 3 of those field goals were over 40 yards. He should stay with Hartley. Hartley may have missed one today, but like I mentioned he hit the biggest field goal in Saints history, and in the Super Bowl was money. If the guy goes from being decent in the regular season to being money in the playoffs, I say keep him. It's complete overreacting, the guy is not going out there and giving a Lin Elliott type performance.
