I hope they give the companions a bit more of a personality this time around. Some of the allies you got on three were kinda dull imo.
I enjoyed the robot companion though and the super mutant (Think his name was Fawkes?)

Hell, with Broken Steel I still went in. My character may have been an absolute dick, but he ain't letting anyone else take credit for his work!

Well if they were calling it Fallout 4 then it would be a different story. I didn't even know that it's a different developer. Besides, all the previews, interviews I've heard is that it's just...new settings, new guns, new story. That's DLC, not Fallout 4 so I can understand why there is a lack of hype. So... what does it need to be a new game then? Was Uncharted 2 just DLC because it was a new setting, story, and weapons? I see your point but I think for Joe Bloggs it's easier to sell a game saying it's a numbered sequel. I don't have a PS3 so I don't know about the Uncharted series. What I'm saying is if it's not the same engine/gameplay why don't they call it Fallout 4? I suppose it doesn't matter in the end.

I'm sure another thing that is causing the hype for people to subside was the stupidity of the Fallout 3 ending. {Spoiler}Well the one ending that makes sense, putting a man who is immune to radiation into the one room you need to get into that's filled to the brim with radiation. Ends by painting you as a coward for not going into the radiation filled room and dying... because only pussies don't kill themselves I guess. It's so pants-on-head retarded that even if this game has nothing to do with that... I'm sure some people have been put off by it enough.

^Fair point, at the end of my 20 hour play through the movie trailer dude told me that when it came down to it I didn't choose the right choice and I was a coward...

The same reason Grand Theft Auto: Vice City wasn't called Grand Theft Auto 4, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas wasn't called Grand Theft Auto 5, and the same reason Final Fantasy Tactics wasn't called Final Fantasy VIII. Because they just don't want to. Just because a game is a spinoff doesn't mean it's no bigger than DLC. DLC is a mission pack and some new gear. New Vegas is a completely separate release, in the same universe as the others but an entirely different story.

Ok, I sort of see where you're coming from, I apologize for lumping all spin offs in to the DLC basket. I retract my statement, sorry. But in regards to the hype/lack there of issue of this thread it's relevant. It would be better marketed in my 'opinion' if this was labeled Fallout 4. I mean Halo made the same mistake with ODST and it caused a lack of sales. They called it Halo 3 ODST...at full price, so people wondered why they couldn't just download it on their Halo 3 disk. If they had called it Halo 4, regardless of the quality/changes/differences to previous entries in the series, it would of sold better. That's all I'm saying.

I can see your point. If they had called it Fallout 3: New Vegas, then it might suffer the same fate, but I think the average gamer is smart enough to distinguish between that and a spinoff from a main series, like they do with Call of Duty.
Now if they were flooding it with spinoffs ala Rock Band and Guitar Hero, it'd be an entirely different ballgame.

^That right there is why the 'Crap is the best message board around. ;D I'm so glad that people on here aren't keyboard warriors and are actually nice people. I hope that New Vegas is a good game, I'll wait till till the reviews are out and I hope Obsidian do a good job.

3 was the first one I played, and I love the atmosphere and gameplay behind it, but those game-freezing bugs really made it annoying toward the end. Trying the play the DLC was really frustrating.

I bought operation Anchorage for I think £5 after I played all of Fallout 3 and it wasn't that great. I think I got a Stealth boy kit which was awesome though. One of my big worries about Fallout (in the future/New Vegas) and I suppose the Elder Scrolls series is the lack of emersion in your character. But in terms of the world, weapons, music, atmosphere, the Fallout universe is a great place to build upon.

Would it of been so hard calling WAW Call Of Duty 5, and then Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty 6?

^So yea, I have no idea why they don't call it that if Modern Warfare 2 was 6. I don't get marketing campaigns in games anymore than I get why they didn't call Rocky Balboa, Rocky 6.

Call of Duty: Black Ops sounds way better than Call of Duty 7.

I think Modern Warfare has its own issues, in that it seems that Infinity Ward wanted it to be its own series, Activision did not, so they compromised. Heck, IW was ticked that Call of Duty 3 was 3 and not a spinoff. They wanted full control of the main games. When they lost that they wanted to start their own series. That entire situation was a mess.
Also I have seen a butt ton of commercials for new Vegas, been seeing them for 3 weeks or so, and I don't watch much tv. Plus the game mags and websites have had features and such for months. It is getting plenty of hype, what it isn't getting is talked about by the fans. Maybe people just assume it will be good, or maybe they just don't care.
I am both interested in it and completely apathetic. Kind of polarizing.

Back on the subject of Fallout 3, I still have yet to find a follower. I think I saw one being menaced once by slavers, but he ran off. I can't even find my dog anymore.
