As of right now, he's a midcarder trying to make a name for himself in the WWE. He has a fanbase from his indie days, but they only make up a small portion of the audience. What he's working on is gaining the rest of the audiences' respect. It may take awhile, or it may never happen. Either way, it's too early to call, even if he's been given the US title and main evented Summerslam.
Come back in a few months and we'll have a clearer outlook on his reception.

So Daniel Bryan is a white Shelton Benjamin? We all know how that went.

Dragon has to get rid of the clean-cut look and revert back to the cape and beard.
That my friends was badass; but you already know that...

I dunno about the beard, but the skinhead works.
As for DBD. He seems alright in the ring to me but I will have to say I cdon't take him seriously and can't seem him really being anything more than an underdog who pulls out a few upsets but generally is a JTTS.

Here's what I don't get: If the WWE doesn't care about smaller guys, doesn't "get" smaller guys, can't book smaller guys correctly, like I keep reading... why the hell do they keep hiring them?
(For this purpose, I'm not talking about the Cruiserweights or anything else, I mean guys in "the main division")
They couldn't do jack with Taz (when he was actually wrestling) because 'he was smaller' (see Lawler burying him on-mic, most of the time as being missing from a Lucky Charms box, 'his variation of the sleeper is, it's a chokehold', 'extremely crappy wrestler' and all that.)
They halfheartedly booked Rey as World Champ, because they felt he 'had to' be there, but "realistically" had to take all those beatdowns.
Now, apparently, even with all the NXT/Firing-and-rehiring/surprise comeback/US Title buildup, they can't figure out a damn thing to do with Danielson.
I could go on, but you get the picture... so, why do they bother? Is it just that someone out there might have an idea how to book them, so the WWE takes their toys away?

This can only mean one thing.
Next Monday, Young defeats Bryan to win the US title to a deafening reaction.

I don't see Darren Young getting over as being a bad thing.

Whether he's been booked well or not, Bryan has been infinately better booked than Darren Young, who this thread says is getting bigger reactions.
Young is a face only because he sucks so bad the heels don't want to work with him. Hell, even the faces don't want to work with him. He submitted to Bryan at Summerslam in under a minute. When did he actually last win a match? Luke Gallows?
If the moderately talented Young can get over with that, The Best In The World should have little excuse.

I have never seen so many people dish out such a wide array for excuses for a guy simply not being good enough to make it in the WWE. No ones making excuses, people are just having a level headed discussion on the internet as to why a popular on the internet wrestler isn't getting the reactions they'd prefer, and feeling some impending dread that they'll eventually see one of the best American wrestlers in years doing the job to Khali on Supertsars. Perhaps if you weren't standing on the other side of some imaginary window and guffawing to your own jokes and breathing fiercly at the chance to show the internet what for and actually engaged with people on some basic human level in this thread you might have a grasp of this. He is somewhat telling the truth. There is alot of excuses from posters why he isn't getting pops. I seen in a thread that because he doesn't get big pops doesn't mean he isn't way over. Of course its the writers fault, None of it form bryans And if he gets pops just in smark cities, I rather have a face who gets pops in any city. smarks or marks.

NOC was in Chicago. We know and cheer for the Dragon. The crowd I was a part of had a ton of Bryan supporters, ranging from people with signs to small groups all over the place trying to get chants going. But that's the thing - in a 12,000 seat arena where maybe 1,000 are really familiar with the guy, it's nearly impossible to have any actual unity of voice. This actually supports my belief that the guy is simply not over enough with the general WWE audience. The one PPV he's gotten a better-than-lukewarm reaction so far is Chicago, which is known for having a more smarky crowd and cheering for ROH guys like Punk and Bryan. Would he have got the same reaction if NOC were held somewhere else? Honestly, I don't think so. I agree completely. Blame whoever you want -- the WWE for the horrible booking, or the questionable ring entrance music, or his size compared to other wrestlers. The underlying reason at this point is irrelevant and doesn't change the fact that right now, the guy is simply not that over, and I don't think it's going to change any time soon. The problem is that Vince doesn't give them "years". How many times have we seen them completely give up on a wrestler if they don't get themselves over in just a couple of weeks? Daniel Bryan hasn't gotten himself over. Whether that's his fault or creative's fault doesn't matter to Vince. Wrestlers have been depushed and released after getting less than Bryan has got to work with and not getting over quickly. Bryan has so far had a main event spot in Summer Slam, numerous decisive wins over one of the biggest heels on Raw right now, and a US title run. And he's still getting lukewarm-at-best reactions. Like I just said, wrestlers have had to work with far less than that, and have been cut if they don't get themselves over in the amount of time Bryan has had so far. Bryan is being given the opportunity, and in a way is being given a lot more to work with than some others. It's simply not working out. Hopefully, things change. But I wouldn't hold my breath. Thank you. You just saved me alot of typing.

I'm not the one getting worked up here, bucko. But as far as my own opinion goes, I think Daniel Bryan is like Benoit without the strength, intensity, or good theme music. He's basically Zach Gowen with 2 legs. For some wacky reason I get the feeling your not a fan of DBD.

Doesn't surprise me at all. I mean, for the people that didn't know him before he started in WWE, there isn't that much there to go crazy for.
