I prefer PG. Blood in big matches is fine, but a lot of the Attitude era could be embarassing to sit through. the best angles from that era tended to avoid that crap.

despite the fact that Linda lost, i hpe that they stick with the stand up for wwe campagin. I don't know how you guys feel about it, but I'm really behind it. Unless Linda plans to run for another seat in a few years, the WWE ain't doin' shit. They don't need to do shit anyway, they are a huge rich company and this standing up thing was just to get votes.

Another in the countless PG vs Attitude debates but anyway, as a few have said there can be a decent middle ground. Less intellegence insulting stuff as has been said, more storylines for midcarders ala Attitude, bit more blood, and keep the quality matches we have now. Personally Id like to see em keep Raw for the older crowd and SD for the kids, as Im sure it has been suggested alot before. Sure the show goes on til 11 on a school night anyway, its ridiculous. Like alot of current WWE, its like they try to show they can edgier stuff but with the limitations they have the watered down result isnt great. They cant have it both ways.

Remember when Vince went crazy after after losing to Trump, getting his head shaved, and going after Lashley for the ECW Title. Something like that. Sweet, i loved that angle! "git, git, git"

You're watching a product designed primarily for children. Stop pretending it's a high-end Shakespeare production. When I was 8 years old, this company brought me a man having his arm chewed to pieces by a cobra, the perpetrator later slapping a woman and almost nailing her with a steel chair. Another sending his partner through a plate glass window. Not to mention a case of attempted murder and a Wrestlemania main event based around doctored photos and accusations of infidelity Good memory of Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Macho Man with snake bite storyline.

I love how some (not most, but some) seem to think it's either Attitude Era or PG, and that there's NOTHING in between. I don't think that many people are really saying we should go back to Attitude Era levels, but saying 'shut the front door' and 'JBL is poopy' instead of *gasp* using a dirty word is offensive and insults my intelligence. That's not PG though. That was WWE not knowing what PG meant. You can do a lot more than that in a PG show and still keep that rating, they just had a horrible transition to it.

Just let 'em start saying the words "ass," "bastard," and "bitch" again and I'm all set. Otherwise, future Steve Austin returns just aren't going to be as much fun.

I'm torn. I can't get too political, but the fact that Blumenthal has attacked her for the content of the Attitude Era and was one of the Attorneys General who signed an amicus brief for California's attempt to ban violent video game sales to minors (see Video Game Trial thread in Off-Topic) is telling. I'd rather have WWE voluntarily put out bad programming for 6 years than the government forcing them to for an indefinite amount of time.

I think the contract with Mattel and other sponsors has just as much or more to do with the PG stuff than Linda's campaign. I doubt it will end for atleast another 5 years or more.

It doesnt need to end. This year has been great TV. The rule is "no blading". No blading means someone has been opened up hardway when blood shows up, which means 99% of the wounds need clearing up.

I have to agree with this point due to some things I've read. M biggest problem with PG is it seems like the want to be PG and MA at the same time. I also think the PG direction highlights what is bad about WWE programing.

I agree, except replace younger brother with girlfriend. That is always awkward. “Babe, I swear that this isn‘t the reason why I watch this.“ exactly, feels sleazy to have that crap. This is the kind of product you can be proud of. Not really. If it was well done PG, then yea. But this isn't. It's ham fisted, and severely neuters characters from being what they could be(Cena's practical Disneyfication being a prime example). It's getting in the way of telling the stories they're trying to tell.

I'm thinking at around January there will be a big format change. WWE's PPV buyrates are way too low for them to even joke around right now.
I have a big feeling we may be seeing Abraham Washington back on TV soon in his political character........which is really just his talk show character. lol

Does anyone know how much money was sunk into this campaign? A few key firings might give it away.

It would be a PR disaster and make them look like a set of carny con-men if they changed the rating now after all they've done to defend themselves. Not to mention the sponsorship deals they have
Good programming is good programming. People are deluding themselves if they think that the rating of the show has any bearing on it's quality.

I don't think it will change at all. I'm of the firm belief that Vince has always wanted his product to be family friendly. He only resorted to the Attitude Era because his company was in trouble.
