£35/£40 million for Carroll is staggering
He's good but IMO he's not worth even half of that
Rangers transfer news James Beattie on loan to Blackpool (£1million well spent by us) and apparently Diouf on his way to us (oh joy) and some Arsenal youth defender

Ha, well don't I look the fool. He is a good buy though, Chelsea have had a major problem in defense, what with Terry's injuries/lack of form and Carvalho leaving for Real Madrid. With Torres coming in as well, Malouda still playing well and Drogba looking like he might be finding his form again, they're starting to look rather indimidating. I still think though that they have the same problem that Man Utd have, a lack of creativity in the centre of the pitch. Lampards been meh all year, Essian and Mikel are industrial rather than magical and Rameries has been a flop, especially when you consider that they already had Essien and Mikel! Lampard's been injured all season, which is probably the reason he's been so 'meh.' Ramires has certainly not been a flop, he's been one of our best players of the season, after a slow start in taking time to adjust to the English game. Definitely has a bright future ahead. Just an opinion, though the Lampard thing is true, I haven't been aware of that. But when it comes to Ramires, I just have never gotten the point of Chelsea buying him. He's good for Brazil, but he's the same type of player to Essien and Mikel and Chelsea just doesn't need him. And when I've watched Chelsea play, I've just though the aforementioned... 'meh'. Still think Chelsea will win the league though.

Nobody seems to know if UEFA cross the 'can't play for two clubs in the same season' between the Champs League and the Europa League.
Also surely there's no way Chelsea will let Torres miss the weekend's game. It happens in loans but I've never known it after a full transfer.

Luis Suarez has been given the #7 shirt. Hope he lives up to it.

Torres @ Chelsea Carrol @ Liverpool Apparently Charlie Adam MIGHT have gone to Tottenham According to Sky, it was too late and Blackpool turned down their bid anyway. I do feel let down by Torres after he went on and on about how much he loved Liverpool and wasn't leaving but that's football I suppose. You can't really turn down £50 million for a player. Unfortunately, we've overpaid massively for Andy Carroll with that money (and he's still f***ing injured) but Luis Suarez could be a great signing. Oh well, at least we're shot of Konchesky. It really looks like the Owners are behind Kenny Dalglish for the long haul.

My issue with Torres is less to do with loyalty and more to do with reasoning. For too long, Torres was on his own and barely got any interaction from various partners or people in the midfield who most couldn't lobby the ball down his direction. Basically, he was the club's only striker for a while and then the club's only GOOD striker after that. Liverpool then sign a man who not only has a great scoring record but also has a great ability to pass the ball to someone who can finish it off...and NOW he decides to leave?! Yeah, he might win trophies with Chelsea (probably not this season, though, but you never know) but it's kind of weird to me that Liverpool sign someone who could work with him and instead we have to deal with the same situation as before but replace Torres with Saurez. Especially since the Chelsea squad needs almost as much rebuilding as the Liverpool squad does right now. It just seems weird to me. But hey, today Andy Carroll is apparently worth £1m more then David Villa so what do I know?

I know man but I guess you're lucky you grabbed Carroll while you could but I guess Liverpool wouldnt let Torres talk to Chelsea unless they knew they could get Carroll, I guess he just wants to play european football. I'm a Birmingham City fan so I'm indifferent about our signings

Honestly, in the situation that Carroll was sold he is worth more than Villa Well, you say that, but Valencia were looking to sell Villa for years because of how much in the red they've been money terms so, in between selling Silva and Villa, I'd say Villa's worth more to their respective club. At least with Valencia, they have suitable replacements.

But he had one year left on his contract, a team that could survive without him was offering the money and Valencia was having to pay for 2 stadiums at the time. Newcastle had a extended contract with Carroll, knew that Liverpool needed Carroll and have no severe money issues meaning that they could get more money out of them whereas Valencia had to accept what was offered and be happy. David Villa should have been double what he was sold at

if drogba and torres both find form...... aw i don't even want to think about it.
ha, my mate is a spurs fan and watching him react to all the transfer stuff today was funny as, spurs bid for everyone and got nobody and then came the phil neville bid... his face was a picture. went to bed before the charlie adam stuff came out though, that would have been gold too.
ha, aguero to phil neville, gotta love harry redknapp

Am I the only one who doesn't think theres been one good permanent signing all day (for big money?) Panic buying of the highest degree. And only Newcastle could get £35 million from a £10 million player, and still look like they've lost out! In other news, I got signed by Luton Town! Well done, man. Hope it works out well for you!

I really hope not signing a defender in this transfer window doesn't come back to bite Arsenal in the arse.
Liverpool must be laughing getting 50 million for a player that has been awful for...well since he cut his hair off I guess. As for Carroll I'm guessing the fee is based on what this guy will do for years to come in a Liverpool shirt but he sure as heck ain't worth that much based on what he has done already.
I believe Suarez will be a good signing though, he's more a replacement for Torres than Carroll is I feel.
