What are some moments, angles or wrestlers the never capitalized on when they were HOT? Whether it was a one week thing that got over big and was never mentioned again or something that went on for weeks or months and just never went anywhere.
I always think of MVP coming out to challenge Orton which got over huge with the fans.
Next week...nothing. No follow up, no mention.

MARK. HENRY.
Dude showed up on Raw after the draft and got the biggest pop of the night turning face against Orton.
And now...now he's back to being The World's Strongest Jobber To The Stars.

Kane should have been pushed to the World Title right when he unmasked. He was red hot then.

2009 - Early 2010 Kofi Kingston.

Kofi Kingston had what should have been a career-defining moment with that Boomdrop at MSG, but he's languishing in midcard hell on Smackdown. It's a travesty, he should be in the mix for the World Title at this point.

Taker, that's what caused the fire that burnt Kane.

Kofi has a feud with Orton, and loses their one singles match. Reportedly because fans were cheering Orton, nevermind the fans had been cheering Orton since he came back from injury in 2008.
Legacy has an excellent feud with DX which gets them over, and they're forgotten about. Really, Legacy should have came out and demanded to be put on Team Raw for Bragging Rights and DX should have said "We know what you guys can do, you're both on the team."
There were quite a few mistakes in 2009 on the Raw side. I still say Survivor Series should have been main evented by Cena, DX, Kofi and Mark Henry or Evan Bourne vs Orton, Cody, Ted, Swagger (he refused to wrestle Orton because he respected Randy, and that was dropped), and a heel Batista (Legacy offered him a spot in their stable).

Yeah the first thing that came to mind was Henry on Raw.
The crowd went nuts.
Now he's lost it all.

When Orton punts Dusty Rhodes right in front of Cody. And you get nothing from Cody. Could have been a great feud right there.

Matt Hardy, say what you will about him now, but he was always over with the fans and one of their better performers. When he came back in 2005 he should've won the feud with Edge and be poised for a run. Instead of being made to look like a joke and always looking like a fool. And hell, when Jeff won the belt at Armageddon back in late 08 you could've just as easily built a feud between them for it at Wrestlemania. Matt helps Jeff out at the Rumble against Edge so Jeff can win. Then while Jeff celebrates Matt nails him from behind with the chair and stands over his unconscious body and holding the title overhead. He then explains his actions saying how every time people would talk. It was always about Jeff, how much better he was. How much of a risk taker he was, how he did such death defying moves. He felt that he had basically became forgotten by the fans and even by his own family. Instead of that stupid promo with the horror music how he burnt Jeff's house day just let him say that the green eyed monster has gotten the better of him and he knows he'll never get out of Jeff's shadow unless he beats him for the title. At Wrestlemania Matt beats Jeff and becomes World Champion. Jeff wins it back a month later at Backlash and swantons him through a table and be stretchered out so he can leave and have the surgery he needed. And look at that, I just made a WM headliner that didn't include Cena vs Edge Round 56921#

Straight Edge Society. They should have unmasked Mercury earlier. Shouldn't have had Gallows jobbing to Big Show. Actually, their whole ending. I got so excited when it looked like they were attempting to resolve things by having Punk and Gallows fight, but... poof.
Gotta mention the Dashing Ones here, too- they had a good thing going, which ended with Drew and Cody bickering. I can't remember exactly, but soon after, didn't they have Cody and Drew in a match against someone, and Cody ended up screwing them both over? It might've been against Kofi, idk. I thought it would have led to a feud between the two of them, at least briefly, but it just poofed away.

Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston, John Morrison (only now are they formally bringing him into the main event after all the chances they've had?), Jack Swagger and MVP.

Doing something with Cena this year that wasn't just over coming the odds. They really could have had a Hogan level turn there, and instead........nothing.
Granted the story isnt quite over yet, but still

Rob Van Dam was just about the most over guy in the company in 2001, right up there with Austin and Rock. He should have won the WWF Title because it's what the fans wanted.

His match with HHH on Wrestlemania 2009 killed Orton's momentum stone dead. Also that one time Ted DiBiase jr was beaten by Randy without throwing THAT ONE punch.
