Pirate Paul. Massively over, fun gimmick, and immediately discarded.

Kofi Kingston during his feud with Orton. Even now, he gets Rey Mysterio-level pops but is stuck in the ruck that is the Ziggler (who is also massively over) and Swagger feud. Seriously, SD! needs more mid-card wrestlers because all three of them deserve more.
Dropping Pirate Paul was one giant misfire.
Kane during his feud with Triple H. Katie Vick be damned, he was massively over.
Booker T. I've made my point explicit in the other thread, he should have beat Triple H at Wrestlemania XIX.
Matt Hardy twice. Once with the V1 gimic and once again after his feud with Edge.

Not that Orton is floundering now but I think they were on the brink of something special with him before they debuted the Nexus. I don't wanna say they had a new Steve Austin on their hands but he was becoming wickedly over and I can't help but wonder if there was something they could've capitalized on there.

Matt Hardy, say what you will about him now, but he was always over with the fans and one of their better performers. When he came back in 2005 he should've won the feud with Edge and be poised for a run. Instead of being made to look like a joke and always looking like a fool. And hell, when Jeff won the belt at Armageddon back in late 08 you could've just as easily built a feud between them for it at Wrestlemania. Matt helps Jeff out at the Rumble against Edge so Jeff can win. Then while Jeff celebrates Matt nails him from behind with the chair and stands over his unconscious body and holding the title overhead. He then explains his actions saying how every time people would talk. It was always about Jeff, how much better he was. How much of a risk taker he was, how he did such death defying moves. He felt that he had basically became forgotten by the fans and even by his own family. Instead of that stupid promo with the horror music how he burnt Jeff's house day just let him say that the green eyed monster has gotten the better of him and he knows he'll never get out of Jeff's shadow unless he beats him for the title. At Wrestlemania Matt beats Jeff and becomes World Champion. Jeff wins it back a month later at Backlash and swantons him through a table and be stretchered out so he can leave and have the surgery he needed. And look at that, I just made a WM headliner that didn't include Cena vs Edge Round 56921# They did pretty much exactly that without the World Title being involved. And their match was fairly underwhelming. Just like it was the first time they turned on each other in late 2001, using the same set-up.

Didn't help though that the build to that match was pretty asinine.

Jericho's Phantom title win, The Pop for that was IMMENSE
If they just kept it the same except Jericho wins the title at the Next PPV it would have been amazing.

When Christian was challenging for the WWE Title, the crowd was SOOO hot for him and WWE just dropped the ball big time.

Evan Bourne. Dude gets pops week in, week out, and finally Cena has had enough and tells Vince push him. He then steals Fatal Four Way with Jericho. Then...nothing. f***ing hell. Turn him heel when he comes back and make him feud with Bryan for Wrestlemania! That'd f***ing rule.

Kurt Angle as a face in Summer-Fall 2001. Was coming in to post this. Should have been made into the new face of the company since Austin and Rock were reaching the end of their careers at that point.

I'd never be able to buy him as a heel. If anything, turn Daniel Bryan heel, then at least maybe he'd stop smiling like a doofus.

I immediately thought of Mark Henry defeating Orton. The fake countout followed by the smile and "not so fast" finger waving was AWESOME, and the pop he got was HUGE. Then, nothing.
Orton punting Dusty with Cody about to snap while the entire audience chanted Cody's name also comes to mind. That was a great moment that could have given Cody a bigger fanbase. Instead we get nothing out of it AND WWE editing the "Cody" chants out with "Cena" chants even though Cena had nothing to do with that particular angle.

The fact that he's so nice is what makes it so f***ing awesome when he launches an unprovoked sadistic assault on Bryan.

I was going to post this. It made NO SENSE whatsover that they were never given the tag team titles considering the tag team division was virtually non-existant and they were, you know, over.

High flyers always make the worst heels.
