Welp, I'm done giving a f*** about Tracy Morgan. I don't support bigots of any kind. So you're bigoted against bigots! Take care when fighting monsters that you do not yourself become the monster, for when you stare into the void, Koda, for the void will stare back.

"When the audience began to turn on Morgan, he reportedly remarked that “if gays can take a dick up their ass, they can take a joke.”"
WHAT. THE f***. IS WRONG WITH HIM?
This sort of shit adds up. It seriously does. Every single incident of homophobia and transphobia, the small, tiny little things - they, individually, are never that bad. But I read just last night a perfect description - it's like you're standing in a hailstorm. Each individual piece of hail isn't so bad. But combine them all together, and you're going to get hurt.
A while back - and I'm sure that the people here who helped me deal with this will remember - I read an article about two guys on a radio station who were talking about the fact that they would beat their children if they turned out to be trans. They thought this was all so funny. But... It's f***ing not. This kind of violence that we face is REAL. It's not a joke, it's NEVER a joke to talk about physically hurting somebody for being GLBT. Because it's something rooted in reality, something that actually happens way too often.
When I read that article, it was the straw that broke the camel's back. I hear bigoted comments all the time and I just ignore them, but... I DON'T ignore them. I internalize them, I process them and I store them all inside me until something happens when I actually have to confront the things that I hear, and I actually have to emotionally deal with them. When I read the article about the radio guys, I just broke down, and every comment that I'd heard came to me all at once.
People need to stop saying shit like this. It's just not f***ing okay.

Looks like it's time for therapy, Jack Donaghy style.

Like Tracy, I grew up in the "ghetto" and homophobia was extremely prevalent to the point that if you didn't act homophobic, you were almost thought of as being gay yourself.
I'm not making excuses for him, but it's likely he grew up in an atmosphere where that kind of behavior was very much tolerated, if not expected.

He is an adult now, and not in any position where he should be worried like that. He's also setting this example for his own son.

PROTIP...don't ever take a word that comes out of Tracy Morgan's mouth seriously. Not a word. You obviously have never seen his stand-up or seen/heard him on The Howard Stern show. It's all for shock value.Yes,the "that doesn't make it right" comments will follow and I get it,but there's bigger things to worry about in this world people.

What the f***? Was he drunk or something? Even if he was, there's no excuse for saying shit like that. The amount hate and ignorance in this world is baffling. As if the comments themselves weren't disturbing enough, the cheering is even more so. It's f***ed up that in 2011, people are routinely denigrated, bullied, assaulted, or even killed over something that they can't control, over who they love. And a way for this to stop is whenever somebody who has a microphone says stuff like this, is for people to stand up and say no, it's not okay, words have serious consequences. But I'm afraid that it won't happen until years from now. Hell, people are still racist, and that stopped being acceptable like 40 years ago.

Where's the punchline? You can be edgy without entirely giving up any semblance of humor. Jim Norton, Louis CK, George Carlin, Richard Pryor: they have made a lot of crass jokes. But they were jokes, with a payoff. This is like saying guys in front of burning cross in white sheets have some terrific one-liners.

If there were some sort of legitimate humor to this, or he were satirizing that sort of behavior...sure, that's fine. Nothing wrong with crass jokes. This was just hateful.

There's a difference between humour and hate.
Humour isn't for real and is meant to entertain audiences.
Hate is just...well, hate.

This is wrong and inexcusable on so many levels that I can't even comprehend.
I have lost all respect for Tracy Morgan.

Yeah, I'm all for hideous, crass, offensive jokes in standup sets, and wish somebody would give Patrice O'Neal and Jim Norton a prime time show they could host together...but this isn't the same thing. This is just, um, wow.

There is nothing funny, ever, about saying you're going to stab your son for being gay. I don't give a shit about shock value. People ARE killed for being gay. It's a LEGITIMATE threat. And I DESPISE "there's bigger things to worry about". So what? Why can't I worry about this AND the "bigger things"? Is it not possible to care about more than one thing at once?

Now we wait for the inevitable hollow apology. Indeed. Frankly, I don't even know if I'd like him to apologize, as it would just feel insincere.

I wouldn't be too shocked that he didn't get fired from 30 Rock, being that Tina Fey is a big supporter of Gay rights.

Normally the hollow apologies from celebrities happen after calling somebody a derogatory word. I don't think there's any kind of apology that a person can make for going this far. Although I am reminded of this article www.womanist-musings.com/2011/05/its-time-for-another-round-of.html
