I would say to the casual fan, Radiohead is best known for "Creep", which is just maybe in the top 30 songs they've released.

Hate to say it. Muse, for the songs on the Twilight soundtracks and Undisclosed Desires. Thats what got my wife into them. Granted, she has ALL their stuff now and loves them. Not a super well known band, but Stupid Girl by Cold. Not a dumb song, just nowhere near their best and not a good example of the rest of their music. Have Geffen records to thank for that one.

Crazy Town, "Butterfly".
Billy Squier, "Rock Me Tonight". (More specifically, that video.)

Blur - Song 2....a song that was basically them writing a mockery of what was popular in america wound up being their biggest hit in america. sad that most people have never even heard songs like For Tomorrow, The Universal, Badhead...all they know is "WOO HOO" This is what i came to post. It was the Universal that made me a fan of blur, then Song 2 came out and I was so mad all people who liked crappy music now liked blur. Also maybe Oasis, as they are known for Champagne Supernova and Wonderwall, yet have AMAZING songs like Masterplan and Sunday Morning Call yeah, the first Blur song i ever heard was the song Parklife and it caused me to buy the parklife and modern life is rubbish album's. both of those albums have songs that are way way wayyyyy better than song 2. also i agree on the oasis thing as well, Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova are good songs yeah, but lyrically are on the dumb side and they have much much better songs espically masterplan which was a friggin B-Side!! i will say that lyrically and musically for me the best oasis song is Gas Panic. that song is so dark and deep its amazing.

As for my contribution, would anything post Black album count for Metallica?

Offspring-Pretty Fly for a White Guy really?! I know it was a popular tune, but I tend to think of "Come Out And Play", "All I Want" and other songs when I first think of them.

Yeah, Smoke on the Water is an outstanding song. Artistically maybe it isn't their best, but its a great song with one of the most memorable riffs in rock

Sure most people already hate autotune, and i love the song, but the lyrics really. They have better deeper music like I support this post right here. Europop is a great club album that I still listen to and "Blue" is one of the two worst songs on that album. "Your Clown" is my personal favorite off that record.

You're all going to be embarrased for forgetting this (not really, I just hate posting one sentence posts!)
Electric Six - Gay Bar
Electric Six (under that name) have 7, soon to be 8 albums out, but that is what they are condemend to be remembered by. Best loving live band ever too, and Tyler/Dick is one of the nicest human beings ever. If you are a person who shares the opinion 95% of the World does with "oh, they're just a joke band!" you're so wrong, they're a band who play with humour and write better songs than most bands at the same time. Mitt Romney.

Not at gigs they aren't, and generally on media etc Gay Bar is their iconic song. Video of the year from Kerrang, played in mainstream clubs whilst Danger! is forgotten. I have more examples but even talking to the band they are known as the Gay Bar band.
Believe me I've gone to more than 30 gigs of theirs (I love gigs, plus they are a band who constantly change their sets).

Jeez, really? I think I only ever heard it a couple of times, but then I was going to rock clubs when Danger! was the big song, and not really afterwards.

Was (Not Was) - Walk the Dinosaur
They have some great music and great lyrics. I'm a huge fan, but it's hard to find many people who remember them. Unfortunately, almost everyone who remembers them instantly thinks of "Open the door, Get on the floor, Everybody walk the dinosaur." That's not to say that it's a terrible song, but it wouldn't make my list of the top twenty Was (Not Was) songs.

Truly, you can tell as chavs at gigs try to beat you up (unsuccesfully when you back elbow their faces off) to it more.
The band speak pretty sadly about it haha, but they don't get too down given they make good money mainly due to it. I still love that song too, just hate what it does to some drunken morons at gigs.
Danger! is awesome too. God I love them.

Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right (to Party) A song that was written as a mockery of generic party anthems became one of the biggest party anthems of all time and their biggest hit, which annoyed them so much that they have rarely ever (if ever) played it live. On a much smaller scale I think the same could be said about Black Flag with the song "TV Party" which is a brilliant piece of satire but also gets ruined by those who don't get it.
