@si_JimTrotter: BREAKING: NFLPA exec committee has broken for the night w/o reaching a decision on whether to recommend approval of the antitrust settlement Also, the plaintiffs issue in the antitrust case remains unresolved. Vincent Jackson is the only player who has yet to verbally sign off. Damn. It.

Osi Umenyiora will reportedly consider holding out of training camp if the Giants don't pay him like one of the top five defensive ends in the league.
Umenyiora has already testified that GM Jerry Reese broke a promise to restructure his contract, but he won't hold up a CBA settlement because his beef isn't with the NFL.

Washington Redskins 2-14, maybe 3-13. Gonna be a long year, but hopefully we get Andrew Luck!! So very this. I at least hope we start Sexy Rexy for the entertainment value. But yes, bring on the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, please!

Barring no major injuries or suspensions (thanks Hines and Harrison :/) Steelers go 11-5 most likely; 13-3 at best, 10-6 at worst. Probably a Wild Card because, well, Baltimore's gotta catch up to us eventually. If everything goes right, I think the Steelers AT LEAST make it to the AFC title game Wild Card or not. I'll make a bold prediction - whoever beats New England or Pittsburgh in the Playoffs will not win their following Playoff game.

But yes, bring on the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, please! But, for the moment, bring on Bad Rex! Why do the Redskins spend so much money on crappy talent? A few years back, I presented my theory on the method of Snyder's madness, and pretty much came up with this: Snyder sees a player with marginal talent and feels that, if he brings him over and pays him well, he could bring out the latent abilities of said player. However, he usually gets a player that actually gets lazier because most of that money is guaranteed. Oh, and Johnny Rockets is a lousy place to eat.

Rotoworld Just a question: how many players have this in their contracts? Thinking how silly it is if more than 5 players at a certain position have this in their deal; wouldn't the money constantly be going up? And there's "no truth to the rumor" that Green Bay players have been contacted to show up to camp on Saturday.

According to Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated, it could take over a week for the NFLPA to re-cetify.

NFL owners have voted to settle the lawsuits, leaving the NFLPA to re-certify the NFL Players Union.
That is all they can do until the union re-certifies. Once the union re-certifies (hopefully tonight at 8p east), then they can start on a new CBA.
The final vote was 31-0 with the Raiders abstaining.

Well, not entirely. The players involved in the anti-trust case have to sign off on this and drop their lawsuit, then the union must re-certify and then approve the new CBA. The lawsuit thing is not a given it seems. Further, the HOF game is canceled and they want the union re-certification to be finalized by the 26th of July.

SI_JimTrotter Jim Trotter there were outstanding issues that had yet to be resolved, and the players are not going to ratify the proposal w/o those being addressed. 45 minutes ago Jim Trotter SI_JimTrotter Jim Trotter you can take it to the bank that the players are not going to ratify this proposal as currently presented. #nfl
