Anybody hyped on Kawajiri/Aoki on here? Hells yeah! I see Kawajiri taking it though after Aoki's last performance against Melendez. I hope Kawajiri wins, I'm rooting for him. But if he lay N prays Aoki like Gilbert did, while in Japan, he'll probably get yellow carded to death and the crowd will lose a lot of respect for him. I actually want Kawajiri to do everything possible to not go to the ground.

GSP defeated Koscheck via Decision (Unanimous) at UFC 74: Respect. But KosDouche get the nest title shot, most likely in December. They are also the next 2 coaches on The Ultimate Fighter. Oh and also, Koscheck might have realized he put his foot in his mouth. Via www.5thround.com/Two days after indirectly accusing UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre of abusing the juice, Josh Koscheck is now singing a much different tune. “Media stories on comments I made about rumors of GSP are in no way factual,” Koscheck told MMAFighting.com on Wednesday evening. “I’m known for polarizing comments, and I got caught up in hyping TUF and our fight. I was wrong, and apologize to GSP for trying to invalidate his hard work and talent. “I’ve waited for this fight a long time, and can’t wait to face one of the best fighters in the world, and come out with the win.” During Monday’s media day to promote “The Ultimate Fighter 12″ in Las Vegas, Nevada, the welterweight top contender told MMAJunkie.com he “heard” from Team BJ Penn that St-Pierre was on steroids and possibly HGH. “BJ Penn and his camp gave me a little phone call,” Koscheck claimed. “They were saying, ‘Yeah, he’s on steroids. He’s this, he’s that.’ I said, ‘Yeah, there’s a possibility. The guy is pretty ripped all year round.’” Today, Penn said that he didn’t contact Koscheck about the possibility of GSP juicing, however believes Koscheck might be a mind reader because the idea has crossed Penn’s dome quite a few times. Koscheck may have referenced Team Penn regarding the roids issue, but these worlds came directly from his mouth without any assistance from the Hawaiians. “We’ve just got to pray to God that he doesn’t grease up, and he gets off that juice so that we can equal things about it,” Kosheck told Junkie on Monday. “I just want to let him know that if he’s going to do that, it doesn’t matter. I’m still going to beat you because it can’t make the chin that much stronger. His chin’s still weak.” GSP owns an impressive 20-2 professional record and has posted seven consecutive wins, including his unanimous decision victory over Koscheck at UFC 74. He’s solidified himself as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet, so it’s clear why Kos is backpedaling faster than an NFL cornerback. The only problem is, the damage may have already been done.

No, but he delivered one of the most dominant perormances of his career. After that I have no idea why Koscheck is still getting a title push, hes a gatekeeper, nothing more.

No, but he delivered one of the most dominant perormances of his career. After that I have no idea why Koscheck is still getting a title push, hes a gatekeeper, nothing more. There just isn't anybody else right now that really could compete with GSP. Last time it was a choice of Dan Hardy or Mike Swick and neither guy stood a chance against George. At least Koscheck can wrestle, though I really don't see this being any different then the last time. Kos doesn't looked like he improved his game at all. He isn't going to be able to stop GSP from taking him down and beating the holy crap out of him. It's getting to the tipping point where GSP really needs to move up in weight just for new matches. And we can all blame Anderson Silvia deciding to be a jackass to ruin that and cause this matchup. EDIT: Didn't want to double post, but just watched this interview With Chuck and....CHUCK HAS ABS How about the guy that beat Koscheck and his teamate Swick(who they were grooming for a title shot before Hardy ruined that), Paulo Thiago?

If he beats Martin Kampmann, then hell yeah he should get the next shot. If Thiago had beaten Fitch then I think he would have this title shot right now. After Kos lost to Thiago, he came back and beat Trigg, Rumble Johnson with a sub of the night honor, and Daily. Thiago has beating Volkmann and Swick since the lost to Fitch. So one more good W and defiantly. Kos kinda got the better end of the stick.
But if were being real hear, Fitch should get another title shot. I don't think it will ever happen though. Dana doesn't want another pure wrestling matchup, especially with all the lackluster main events lately. (Thanks again Anderson)

How about the guy that beat Koscheck and his teamate Swick(who they were grooming for a title shot before Hardy ruined that), Paulo Thiago? Well, UFC's title shot plans always seem to fail. Diego was the TUF winner, undefeated, and I bet if he beat Kos, would've gotten a title shot. Too bad Diego lost two in a row. Carlos Condit was the WEC welterweight champ, the division got absorbed into the UFC, and they were grooming Condit, but he got beat by Kampmann. If Thiago gets beaten by Martin, expect the UFC to try to groom Kampmann till he gets derailed. (Stun Gun Kim?) I also think Kos is ok against GSP because Kos is certainly a marketable douchebag, and gave GSP a stiff test last time around. The thing with the welterweight division is, its still tough because after they lose to GSP, they get better. Fitch has gotten better, and I wouldn't be surprised if the same happens with Alves and Hardy.

There is no way in hell Dana will give him another shot based on his style of fighting, and he ruin potential title challengers by beating them without doing any damage. Is he a good wrestler, yes. But he often seems to come out of his victories more damaged than his opponents. Plus he is a piss break. Koscheck s guilty of the same glorious LnP(see Daley), but at least he tries standup once in a while, and has a gimmick.

I guess I also forgot about Ricardo Almeida. If he beats Matt Hughes, he is in the mix as well. So there might be a few more interesting match ups for GSP.
Oh and a little more news.
Via mmamania
The stakes have officially been raised.
During today's Strikeforce: "Los Angeles" media call, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker announced that the winner of June 16th's 195-pound catch weight fight between Renato "Babalu" Sobral and "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler will receive a title shot.
More specifically, with a win, "Babalu" will get a shot at King Mo's light heavyweight belt while Lawler would get a chance to take on Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza for middleweight gold. Coker made the announcement with hardly a mention of Jake Shields' status with the promotion, seemingly admitting that his time has come to an end with Strikeforce, as is widely believed to be the case.
Renato's title shot, should he defeat Robbie, isn't such a sure thing. Sobral and Lawal are currently training partners as well as friends, of course meaning that "Babalu" holds no interest in taking on the newly crowned champion. "Babalu's" manager was also on the call, and while he wouldn't completely rule a fight with King Mo out, he did say, "It's not a fight we're interested in pursuing, but if it's what the fans want to see, we'll try to work it out."
"Babalu's" manager went on to add, "I'll tell you the fights we want right now, Dan Henderson and Gegard Mousasi." Of course, Mousasi and Henderson are both coming off defeats to King Mo and Jake Shields respectively, so a loss against Lawler wouldn't appear to damper Sobral's chances or getting either one of those bouts, even though Mousasi already holds a convincing win over Renato.
Lawler was last seen making a "Marvelous" comeback against Melvin Manhoef at Strikeforce: "Miami" earlier this year. Despite eating a dozen leg kicks that left him with a serious limp, the hard-hitting Lawler found the Dutchman's sweet spot and put him to bed in the latter part of round one.
He may need that power (along with the ability to stay on his feet) to get past the crafty Brazilian.
Sobral actually held the promotion's light heavyweight title until he got turned inside out by Gegard Mousasi at Strikeforce: "Carano vs. Cyborg" last August. That defeat snapped a five-fight win streak for the former UFC standout and it will be interesting to see his performance at 195-pounds.

Cro Cop has changed somehow, and he gave this explanation. Reporter: Correct me if I'm wrong, but that cut wasn't there yesterday was it? Mirko: These ladies came into my room and you know.. scratched me. Reporter: Are you ok? Mirko: I am, they are not.

Things might not be so great in Vancouver as originally thought. Though the UFC will not lose money if you factor in PPV buys.
Via bloody elbow
First off the Vancouver Sun reports that scalpers can't unload tickets:
Ticket prices for Saturday's UFC 115 event in Vancouver appear to be dropping quickly, following speculation that scalpers had scooped up most pre-sale tickets and oversaturated the resale market.
Tickets for the mixed martial arts event at GM Place sold out in 30 minutes on April 13 - two days before the sale was opened to the general public. Members of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Fight Club, who pay $75 a year for a number of inside-access privileges, had scooped up all of the nearly 19,000 tickets, which ranged in price from $75 to $601.
Within minutes, tickets began appearing on sites such as Craigslist, StubHub and eBay, marked up several times over. On April 14, the cheapest seats at online ticket marketplace StubHub were listed for $265 US each. On Tuesday, however, the cheapest tickets on the same site had dropped to $69. Floor seats were available for $475.
This follows the news MMA Mania reported a couple days back:
Vancouver Athletic Commission chair Mirko (coincidentally enough) Mladenovic said that the price of insurance is so high that the UFC, despite selling out General Motors Place for the event, will most assuredly make no money.
Rumors have swirled that the UFC had to pay in the neighborhood of $12 million to insure UFC 115. But with Zuffa's recent move of opening up corporate offices in Canada, one would think that this situation sits high atop their list of priorities along with the sanctioning of the sport in Toronto.

Shogun has knee surgey again
Via MMAweekley
Rashad Evans earned a return shot at UFC gold when he defeated Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 114 in Las Vegas last month. He’ll still get the shot, but just a little bit later than he might have anticipated.
UFC president Dana White on Thursday revealed that Evans’ next opponent, light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, had to undergo knee surgery following his win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 113.
“He had the surgery in L.A. He’s gonna do all his therapy in Vegas. So he’s gonna be in Vegas for the next five weeks,” White told MMAWeekly.com.
There was a question, however, as to when Shogun suffered the injury.
White said, “He needed (surgery) after the fight. He got hurt in the fight.”
It was brought up that “MMA Live’s” Franklin McNeil had reported on speculation prior to the Rua vs. Machida fight that Shogun had a knee injury entering the fight.
“He’s got a knee problem now, and he got it fixed,” White said, addressing the issue. He added, “He had a bad knee after the fight.”
Shogun will undergo the aforementioned five weeks of rehabilitation in Las Vegas, then start looking towards a date with Evans.
White told MMAWeekly.com that he was unsure when Shogun would be clear to return, but indicated that it wouldn’t take long, pointing out that Shogun had his appendix taken out four weeks prior to the Machida fight.
Until then, Rashad Evans will sit tight and enjoy a little extra time with his family.

Ah Shogun, he just doesn't fight to potenial unless he has major surgery before a fight. After this, Angioplasty! He will be unstoppable.
