Chael Sonnen is quickly becoming to best in MMA at hyping fights. I dont know if he is insane, or just knows how to get people talking. Either way, I might break my rule of never buying another Anderson Silva just so I can see Chael take him down and LnP him for 5 rounds. I usually hate that crap, but Anderson needs to get off his f***ing high horse and come back down to earth. WAR SONNEN11111

Chael Sonnen has expanded his verbal offensive on UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva to include his two best-known training partners -- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
Sonnen trashed the Brazilian twins in a UFC Fight Club question-and-answer session on Friday in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
“He’s got a black belt under the Nogueiras,” Sonnen said, referring to Silva. “I think a black belt under the Nogueiras is saying, like, I got a free toy in my Happy Meal. I don’t really understand what the big deal is. One of ’em’s a punching bag, and the other one I just ignore; he’s really irrelevant.”
Sonnen will challenge Silva for his 185-pound crown in the UFC 117 headliner on Aug. 7 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. Ed Soares, Silva’s manager, again found himself in the verbal crosshairs of the outspoken Oregonian.
“He’s the world’s most famous interpreter,” Sonnen said. “Somehow he even got himself into the [UFC] video game.”
A two-time national wrestling champion, Sonnen has for some time openly jockeyed for a matchup with Silva, who has held the UFC’s middleweight crown since October 2006. Widely regarded as one of the top two pound-for-pound fighters in the sport, the Brazilian will enter the cage against Sonnen on a 12-fight winning streak.
“I’ve stuck my finger in this guy’s chest for four years, and he fought everybody in the world that wasn’t named Chael Sonnen,” Sonnen said. “He’s got what I want. He’s got 12 pounds of gold, and I want it.”
Silva’s latest effort, a unanimous decision victory over Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Demian Maia, was all but universally panned. He spent much of the early parts of the bout taunting Maia and grew more and more disengaged as the fight progressed. UFC President Dana White threatened to cut Silva if he repeated the performance in subsequent appearances inside the Octagon.
“This is a one-sided dance,” Sonnen said. “I saved Anderson’s job. Uncle Dana was going to give him his walking papers, and I begged him, ‘Keep him around. Keep him around for one more fight. I will retire this guy.’”

By round 4, this fight is going to get fun.

By round 4, this fight is going to get fun. Hopefully by round 4, Anderson will have run out of square dancing moves and actually wants to fight. This is brilliant by Chael and a complete win/win. If he wins, he beat what many consider the best PfP fighter in the world and can keep talking shit. If he loses, he is getting so much free publicity right now and you cant really fault a guy for losing to the best, especially if he keeps it close for 5 rd's. Even though I'm not a Silvia fan right now, me thinks that Anderson will go out and try to destroy him in the first rd. Not only to save his job, but to shut people up. Either way, I am really looking forward to this fight. In all likelihood, we will either get a highlight real KO from Anderson, or Chael will beat some humility into him.

I am rooting 100% percent for Sonnen. His performance over Marquardt was really incredible, he is freaking hilarious, and he is the type of fighter that is Anderson's kryptonite: good wrestler that can hold you down and wear you out. He survived on the ground against Nate Marquardt, no doubt in my mind he can survive against Silva.

I like that Chael is talking trash, I love that kinda stuff. But Anderson Silva is going to kick his ass so bad that Chael will regret that he ever said Anderson Silvas name

Word is also he might do the ChaCha for the first time in 5 years.

Cro Cop might be done? I personally think this might be a negation tacit cause his contract is up. But I dont blame him if its true.
Via Bloody Elbow but transcribed by fightersonlymagazine.co.uk from a Croatian website.
"In addition to winning the Pride Grand Prix Finals, [UFC 115] it’s my favorite fight of my career [but] most of the training proved to me that I am now too old for this…I don’t know about a new contract with the UFC. I believe that I gave this game a lot, I fought with the greatest fighters," Cro Cop said.
"For 20 years I lived this life and now I have no motivation for the fight, no mental strength for all the Spartan training. I am no longer so hungry for victory. I will not stop training, but if I am asleep I’ll stay in bed and practice an hour later."
"I have some [seminar] contacts around the seminar circuit in the U.S., Australia, Europe and even Brazil," Cro Cop said. __________________

- UFC on Versus II headlined by Jon Jones vs. The Janitor has been moved from Salt Lake City to San Diego because of poor ticket sales - Interesting new details about the EA MMA video game and it's online play. Plus a new trailer. uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/109/1096593p1.html

Sonnen drips personality...
Pro Wrestling would be a nice option after MMA.

I would love to believe you, but my inside sources tell me that Anderson has been working non stop on this SICK tango dip he plans to break out. Word is also he might do the ChaCha for the first time in 5 years. You're talking about Silva previewing the move here, right? (scroll to 6:30) Chael is right in that he put some interest back in an Anderson Silva headed PPV. I don't really get him trashing the Nogueiras, etc, but it does get people interested in the PPV to see him either get knocked out for running his mouth, or hyping him up to be a worthy challenger that will engage. I think it's good enough to go to the bar with my friends to watch it. Otherwise, the only other fight I was interested in on that card was the Roy Nelson/Junior Dos Santos match. Maybe.

See, its moments like that that make it hard to not like Anderson. Outside the cage, he seams like a really cool guy. Its just the crap he has pulled lately that is pissing alot of people off. I think Dana said it best awhile ago. "If you that good, be Mike Tyson."

GSP/Silva might still happen after all
Via ESPN
Sometimes the UFC has its finger on the pulse of its fans. And then there are times when it seems to completely miss the boat.
Case in point: Dana White's comments to MMAJunkie.com regarding a possible Anderson Silva vs. Georges St. Pierre "superfight," something White said he's "shocked" that fans keep demanding.
"It starts to get to the point where I'm like, 'I guess if everybody wants to see this fight, maybe we make this fight,'" he said.
These are the words of a guy who would stare long and hard at a falling anvil before deciding to move out of the way.
There's a real reason why audiences are rabid about the fight: Few times in the sport's history have two athletes have been so uniformly dominant. The promise of one finally appearing human is an exciting prospect. The minute St. Pierre or Silva loses -- from the UFC's perspective, probably the most opportune time to make the fight -- all of that anticipation goes out the window. As enjoyable as it was to see Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva in 2007, that match would've blown synapses in 2005. Timing is everything.
White is probably not oblivious to this, but he's likely suspicious of sacrificing one pound-for-pound guy's reputation for the sake of a one-night payoff (though it'd be a huge one night payoff). That's sensible, but it's also the kind of bureaucratic bungling that's prevented boxing from making a lot of historic bouts over the past 30 years. It's bad enough we've missed some big fights because of conflicting promotions. If two fighters are under the same employer, there's no reason not to capitalize on it.

Anyone else going to watch Strikeforce: Los Angeles tonight? Bablu-Lawler and Zaromskis-Cyborg are going to be barnburners.

Why Silva/GSP? GSP is smaller, a good wrestler, and all that, but Silva will out strike him, won't be taken down, and dance his way to victory.
Now Silva/Rashad, Silva/Silva, Silva/Shogun, Silva/Belfort, Silva/Mir those are fights i'd love to see.

If Dan Henderson could take Silvia down on top of the high caliber wrestlers that GSP trains with, there is know doubt in my mind the GSP could take him down. The reason why people want this fight is simple. 2 out of the top 3 best pFp going at it. Add to that this will be the most challenging fight either of these guys will have had in a long time. Oh, and the big ass money and publicity they will get too.

Strikeforce: Los Angeles was pretty good. Noons-Heun was a brawl from start to finish, Kennedy got a good submission win, Cyborg cleaned Zaromskis's clock, and Babalu won a close fight with Lawler.
