UFC is going to be INSANE in the Rogers Centre. And GSP will do to Shields what he always does. What? Repeatedly score takedowns, and make no serious attempts whatsoever to cause major damage or finish the fight? Which is also what Shields does. I absolutely HATE the term lay 'n' pray. Hate it. I, myself come from an extensive folk and freestyle wrestling background, and often find mma fighters who use wrestling to cause damage with the ground and pound exciting to watch. However I find both Shields and GSP very dull to watch, and am not looking forward to this fight at all. GSP and Anderson Silva on the other hand could be absolutely golden. It isnt Lay and Pray. GSP is an incredibly active fighter on top position, and his fights have only looked the way they have due to the fact that his opponents for the most part have had to resort to playing defense. Koscheck couldnt even get past his jab. GSP will wreck Silva. Imagine Chael Sonnen, but faster, more explosive and with much better submission defense.

Damn, Carlos Condit's injured and will be replaced by veteran Brian Ebersole at UFC 127. Pretty bummed about that one, I was really looking forward to Condit vs. Lytle.

I agree, it was the fight I was most looking forward to on the whole card... Having said that, I hope Ebersole does well. I have seen a few of his fights and I'm glad he's getting a shot.

Silva only looks good when people are coming at him trying to hit him. When his opponent is defensive minded you get a fight like he had against Leites or Maia. (Terrible) Lately the only guys who have tried to bring the fight to GSP have been Hughes and Penn, who both got stopped... GSP will embarrass Shields with a brutal face pounding.

That fight just got 10000000 times better. Davis is a legitimate prospect, and will probably be heavily favored because of how Lil Nog has looked lately, but as great of a wrestler as Davis is, if he takes the fight to the ground, he's going to have to grapple with one of the best jiu-jitsu players in the game. Hell of a fight, and it's gonna be for free.

He'll never bee as good as Lil Nog, but he can hold his own. I'll be taking Phil in the fight seeing how Nog has handled wrestlers recently

Phil Davis' biggest attribute is his shoulders. They're f****** HUGE.

Means I don't have to watch Tito Ortiz, which is AWESOME! Seriously. That dude needs to just retire for good. I hated him in his prime because of he was an arrogant jerk who always won. I hate him now because he's an arrogant jerk who can't even beat the middle-of-the-road guys. I can't be alone in thinking that Chuck Liddell would've whooped his ass this last time, before Tito pussed out.

The guy was the foundation of the early ZUFFA era. And if he was a boring sportsman that didn't wear "GUY MEZGER IS MY BITCH" shirts, ZUFFA wouldn't have drawn gates, sold PPVs and would've probably folded. I don't know the numbers but I would bet that no champion since the boom has fought 4 times in a one year span. He was the heel who would talk so much shit that you'd pay to see him hopefully get his ass kicked. Chael Sonnen is apparently the best promo guy of all time for all the trash he talked before one fight. But Tito had already said everything Chael could say and backed it up. 10 years ago.

Oh, you're exactly right about that. I never said the guy didn't have any talent, and I certainly couldn't deny his contributions to the sport. He was, at one point, a very talented fighter, and he definitely did contribute a great deal to the "boom" in MMA. I saw it all with my own two eyes. Doesn't change the fact that I can't stand his personality, nor does it change the fact that he should go ahead and retire at this point.

^Agreed in full. Full props to helping the organization in to the boom period but in terms of relevance nower days? Eh, he got schooled by Matt Hammil. He is lucky he is getting another chance, if he ever recovers from his cracked skull.

This is great news for UFC's Featherweight division. Edgar is a great fighter with a lot of energy that will fit perfectly for such an intense weightclass. I hope Edgar gets his win back from Maynard and then makes a dominant run in this division.

Am I the only person that read that as him saying he "MIGHT" drop to featherweight? I saw a lot of "if's" in there.
