Rashad v. Shogun? Hell, I'd put Silva on free TV if I could and if he got PPV revenue bonuses in his paycheck.

Fedor isn't ever coming to the UFC. This is sadly true. Maybe after he retires they can set up a PRIDE section of their HOF and put Fedor in there? And, MMA is ever so closer to getting legalized in NY. The senate passed a MMA Bill which means it has to be signed by the governor to be legalized. Melvin Manoef has been added to DREAM.15 Rampage says that his knee was injured during the Rashad fight. And finally, Dana says that in order to make up for UFC 112, he will have a free fight, which Dana describes as huge, on free tv. Any guesses? Anderson Silva's translator reads The Great Gatsby while Andeson himself does nothing but moonwalk.

Mizuno is a Pancrase guy that DREAM fed to Cro Cop at DREAM 1, He's been somewhat successful in M-1 recently. And if Aoki/Kawajiri wasn't on that card I'd probably be most excited for Kikuno/JZ on July 10.

For the free fight Dana is talking about, I'm expecting something with Forrest Griffin. Maybe vs. Franklin, or Lil' Nog. I highly doubt it'll be a title fight

WEC had a good show tonight. Not a bad fight on the card. I'm not a fan of Jaime Varner at all, but he got royally screwed tonight.

Akiyama may pull out of fight with Leben
Via Fighters Only Magazine
Yoshihito Akiyama has expressed dissatisfaction at the thought of facing Chris Leben at UFC 116 instead of Wanderlei Silva and has reportedly said he is considering withdrawing from the fight because he does not have time to prepare a new gameplan and Leben is not high-profile enough.
According to Korean MMA blog Daum.net, Akiyama said “I am not pleased with the change. There are just ten days left until the contest for me to determine [Leben’s] threats and the time is insufficient to establish a tailored gameplan. Leben is also not as high-profile as [Wanderlei] Silva and that does not help me.
“If there is to be a replacement I was hoping for a big name,” he added, “I spent one year preparing hard for this fight and this news has come as a big disappointment, my motivation has waned. I do not know yet what will happen. .. In the worst case, I will not take part in the [UFC 116] event. We are working hard to resolve this issue.”
Leben stepped in on Monday night after the UFC officially removed Wanderlei from the card. He fought just five days ago at the TUF 11 finale in Las Vegas and initially took some persuading to take Akiyama on. He described it as “a huge opportunity” upon accepting the fight.
Wanderlei requires surgery on his right ACL and will take some time to recover. It could be as long as one year before he is back in the Octagon, which means that Akiyama will have to accept an alternative opponent at some point anyway.
UFC 116 takes place on July 3rd in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be headlined by UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar in a clash against interim champion Shane Carwin. The winner will be declared the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Good. It's about f****** time. He has been living off a split decision over a hungover Chuck Liddell for too long. That fight annoyed me so much, the commentators spent the whole fight climaxing every time Jardine threw a leg kick, talking about how damaging the leg kicks were, and Chuck doesnt slow down at all in the fight, and even throws a spinning back kick at the end of the fight. Chuck looked like he didnt even train. He just sat there waiting to throw a right hand and win it. Jardine got the win just by outpointing him. The Chuck of 2005/2006 wouldve eaten him alive in 1 round.

This is really sad. My prayers go to his family. But I gotta ask....How can a guy who is 6 foot 9 cut to 155. Thats just inhuman. It might have a lot to do with his death.
Via mmaFighting
Michael Kirkham died early Monday following his professional MMA debut this past Saturday on a pro and amateur card in Aiken, S.C.
Kirkham, a lightweight nicknamed "Tree" for towering at 6-feet-9, was 30.
Kirkham competed on a Dash Entertainment and King MMA co-promoted "Confrontation at the Convocation Center" event at the USC Aiken Convocation Center, a card regulated by the South Carolina Athletic Commission.
"Obviously our thoughts and prayers are with his family, other than that I have no comment," Sam King, a promoter of Saturday's card, told MMAFighting.com.
WRDW in Augusta first reported that Kirkham was transported to Aiken Regional Medical Center from the venue following the fight and was pronounced dead of a brain hemorrhage Monday morning.
Coroner Tim Carlton confirmed to MMAFighting.com that Kirkham was unconscious from the finish of the fight all the way until this morning. An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday.
Kirkham, who according to his own Facebook page, held an amateur record of 3-3, was taken down early in the fight and lost by referee stoppage from ground and pound strikes. But when he did not regain consciousness, doctors and medics attended to him in the ring and stretchered him out.
Kirkham was the captain of his own "Fayetteville Independents" MMA team and according to his teammate John Yox's Facebook page, had "severe bleeding in the brain" and had been kept on life support. A message left on Yox's voicemail was not returned.
The South Carolina Athletic Commission requires that all boxers and MMA fighters submit an original or certified lab report indicating that the competitor is HIV, Hepatitis B and C negative. Also, the fighter must complete an ophthalmologic (eye) exam as well as a physical by a doctor.
Kirkham becomes the second fighter to pass away due to causes from a regulated MMA fight in the US. The first known death in a regulated event was Sam Vasquez, who died on Nov. 30, 2007 from head injuries on a local card in Houston, Texas. Vazquez was in a coma for 42 days after the fight in October.

Dana White announced today that the UFC have banned vuvuzelas. He said he'd rather be punched in the face repeatedly by Brock Lesnar than hear 15,000 people blow them.

Dana has harsh words for Fedor
Via mmamania
"Nope. Now I don't have to hear about him anymore. I like it.... He has star power? Nobody cares. Do you realize this is something that's been created by the mixed martial arts media? Do you know how many people watched his fight the other night? 400,000 people watched it. The guy has absolutely no star power. They sold no tickets to that fight, either.... Here's the problem, the guy loses and gets to fight one of these guys? I've been saying for years this guy isn't all that. He's not great. Everybody's talking about how great this guy is, no he's not. Now he should deserve to come into the UFC and fight the best? No way!... The guys who fight in the UFC are fighting the very best three times a year. This guy hasn't fought anybody since 2005. The media created him and hyped him up. Not me. What do you want me to say? This is what I've been saying?"

Ah, the ever objective Dana White. We'll see when Fedor is a free agent again. Too much film in Zuffa's library to ignore Fedor and the fans will still demand it.
How about Brock Lesnar's thoughts on Fedor Emelianenko's recent defeat to Vai Cavalo:
"It was disappointing. I hate to see a guy like that," Lesnar said. "Whether his legacy was more of a mystique than it was, he stood up and he was respectful and it was tough to see. It reminded me of my first fight against Frank [Mir] when I got really anxious and fell right into the trap."
"That’s a tough pill to swallow. That’s a big pill to swallow and I definitely do not want to try to swallow that pill again."
"I feel bad for him."
"No I don’t. I don’t think any less of him," Lesnar said. "We’re human beings and we all make mistakes and it’s whether or not we can get up and better ourselves. That’s what true champions are made of, I believe."
