If you don't count the dark match he had, then it has to be Norman Smiley. Which is even more of a shame since he is actually employed by WWE down in FCW.

Karl Gotch and George Hackenschmidt never wrestled for Vince. Karl Gotch was a WWWF tag team champion. It doesn't matter which Vince was in charge. Whether it was Capitol Wrestling, WWWF, WWF, or WWE, its all the same company at the end of the day.

Here's my list and mind you I'm referring to these guys in their prime: Nikita Koloff Tommy Rich Magnum TA Gino Hernandez David Von Erich All The Members of the Midnight Express David Von Erich worked the Garden a few times. So has Kevin, and so did Kerry years before he became the Texas Tornado.

Lou Thesz sprung to mind, but someone beat me to it. If we are talking people who I have actually seen in the ring though who didn't work for WWE (to my knowledge) I would say: Nick Bockwinkel Gino Hernandez David Von Erich Kevin Von Erich AJ Styles (not including try out) Magnum TA Samoa Joe (probably had some form of try out too) Nick Bockwinkle did commentary for the WWF in 1987, plus him and Backlund had several AWA/WWF title unification matches.

Did Antonio Inoki ever wrestle in a WWF-sanctioned event? I know he wrestled Bob Backlund (and didn't he win the belt?) but wasn't that a talent exchange? Inoki was on the MSG card where Wendi Richter beat Moolah for the belt in July of 84. Also that famous match from the mid 70's with Muhammad Ali vs. Inoki? That was promoted by one Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

Watching the names listed here, one realize the big difference between sting and the hypothetical second greatest wrestler to never step a WWF/E ring

I'm gonna take a shot at this and say Dory Funk Sr. Allthough 2nd biggest star to never have worked for WWE might be a big stretch.

CW Anderson, Steve Corino. Abdullah the Butcher, And Great Nuta. Didn't CW Anderson wrestle in the new ECW as Christopher W Anderson?

Actually, Shark Boy worked a dark match against the late Kanyon in 2003. Kanyon had Miss Jackie Gayda at ringside, and they had an introduction promo for the two before the match, but that didn't work out cause Jackie went on to manage Rico. Type "Shark Boy Vs. Kanyon" on Youtube & you'll find it.

Whether it was Capitol Wrestling, WWWF, WWF, or WWE, its all the same company at the end of the day. Since Hackenschmidt was mentioned, I would assume this chap meant to say Frank Gotch, not Karl Gotch. Rikidozan? Pretty much the father of Puroresu and still holds television ratings records in Japan, wrestled matches over the NWA Title, but I don't think ever had any involvement with the McMahons.

If it counts, he wrestled Bret Hart on a WWF/NJPW/AJPW Supershow at the Tokyo Dome when he was doing the Tiger Mask II gimmick.
