Alberto Del Rio says that he's the first full blooded Mexican to win the Royal Rumble.
So is Rey Mysterio not full Mexican? Is he mixed with something?
Or Full Mexican American but not Mexican?
And I believe Eddie wasn't born in Mexico so is he not the first Mexican WWE champion? (Only the first Mexican American?)

Rey was born in California, so he's technically Mexican American.
Same with Eddie, who was born in El Paso.

Hello, I've never heard of the races being defined like that. I would still think Rey has "full Mexican blood" even though he was born in the good ole US of A.

That's what I don't get about that interview,!!!!
Surely if Eddie and Rey are people who were born in America but who's parents are Mexican their 'blood', 'blood' being a metaphor for heritage, wouldn't be 'diluted' in anyway by living in a different geographical location?!!!!

it's funny how ''mexican'' is a race lol It's used in the same way that Irish or Italian is used. It's not a race itself but it's a certain heritage.

Kinda like how Sheamus is the first Irish born WWE champion, even though Vinny Mac is Irish (isn't he? not full blooded, I know). Or he's Scottish. Don't mind me.

I get what Del Rio is saying, I think it was just an awkward choice of words. Basically, he is the first Royal Rumble winner that is a native Mexican.

It's just a way of grouping humans together "Race refers to classifications of humans into relatively large and distinct populations or groups often based on factors such as appearance based on heritable phenotypical characteristics or geographic ancestry, but also often influenced by and correlated with traits such as culture, ethnicity and socio-economic status" If I said "all mexicans are lazy" then i would be racist, therefore Mexican must be a race (it falls under the geographic description).

Of course, being that Del Rio is puerto Rican, the point is moot.

I read this thread title as "Rey Mysterio isn't full of Mexican?" and it was hilarious.
Del Rio is the shizno, Mexican or not, I'd take him over Mysterio any day.
