Legendary :
Weekend 1 : $126,964 from 177 theaters, PTA of $717 Weekend 2 : $29,306 from 103 theaters, PTA of $285.
And I don't know the Knucklehead numbers, but it only played for two days in six theaters.
Although I remember in another thread someone said it only grossed $65.

We mock the WWE films, but they make a healthy profit. Shit works.

Divide that with the price of the tickets and you get around 150 people per screen who watched the movie. divide it by the number of days in theaters, you get 24 per screen in a day. Not bad for a limited release. We mock the WWE films, but they make a healthy profit. s*** works. I wouldn't consider a 10,000 $ Profit a huge success. Granted it is not a loss, but it not great.

Anything they get in the theaters is gravy. If they make any money it will be on the rental/licensing to red box and netflix/on-demand end of things.

I wouldn't consider a 10,000 $ Profit a huge success. Granted it is not a loss, but it not great. Yeah, but with generally low production costs, combined with generally high home video sales they're making decent money off these movies now. Which is likely why they're putting out like 6 this year

Which is likely why they're putting out like 6 this year I know. That's why they stopped the hollywood approach. I still wish they stopped the project altogether.

keep in mind that the only reason they're doing these limited releases in the first place is because Walmart won't sell movies that weren't in theaters first.

These Samuel-Goldwyn WWE Films never get released in theaters where I live. I know they're limited releases, but at least have them shown in some theater near.
Is there a reason why they don't get nationwide releases anymore? Is it because See No Evil, The Marine, The Condemned, or 12 Rounds didn't do so well in theaters? I actually got to see 12 Rounds in theaters, and it was in theaters for two weeks where I live.

That why they are going the cheapest route for the movies.

Long story short, WWE release in fewer cinemas, because they make shit all money at the box office (and of course Cinemas are less likely to want to waste a screen that could make a lot more than $1500 with a decent film hence the low uptake). However, because they don't lose any money to the distributers they end up making more as a result. It's funny how that works out. Cody Rhodes' theme is right after all. Less IS more, logically though, skipping the cinemas wouldn't be a good idea because even less is WAY too much.

Because a nation wide release costs alot of money, you have to promote the movie on more then just WWE programming, which means paying to get your trailer before other movies, paying for TV spots, paying for print and in theatre advertisement etc. Combine that with overall under performance in theatres and it's just not worth it to do a nationwide release. Hell, like someone else said, the only reason these get there 3 screen releases is because Wal*Mart won't stock them otherwise.

Also, in order to get that nationwide release, WWE'd have to bring in a distributer. Which would slash the profitability right away.
