or people saw Christian was still main eventing and turned off? I love how last week was not Christian's fault and yet this is all Orton's fault, despite the same two people being involved. Funny how some wrestlers are immune to criticism, isn't it? And those people have no proof that Orton is the reason why the ratings are low. History. Orton as Champ doesn't = ratings.

Smackdown is WWE's dumping ground for everyone they don't have any plans for on the A-show, plus a token top tier of main eventers to keep viewers watching. And as the roster of established names continues to thin (and the bookers remain seemingly incapable of making any new stars), there's going to be fewer and fewer of those top draws.
Edge is gone. Perhaps more importantly, Rey Mysterio is now on RAW, and he's arguably a bigger draw than either of the Rated-RKO alumni.
And the biggest draw of all, the guy plastered all over the Smackdown intro, is Undertaker, and by now it's obvious to everyone that for all intents and purposes, Undertaker's gone except for the occasional special appearance, which will likely be promoted on RAW first anyway.
So, that leaves... Orton and his stupid beard.
For heaven's sake, we have Mark Henry getting positioned as the potential top heel on Smackdown. That's the dire straits the roster's in. Is it really a surprise that viewers are tuning out?
I bet all the wrong people will be saddled with the blame for this.

I just love how Orton is a ratings killer and no good while getting twice the reaction of Christian and being more over than Christian could ever hope to be.
Just because Christian made stupid faces with Tomko and Edge and mocked John Cena, his shit doesn't stink it seems.
And I am a Christian fan, but if him and AJ Lee had a baby, most people on here with die from heart failure. Christ almighty.

For a guy who seems to love a lot of things I'm not feeling it Also, twice the pop is a big exaggeration. Christian is now getting close to Orton - less than Orton, but he's not far off nevertheless. Then again giving the amount of piped in cheers for *both* of them on last weeks smackdown it was hard to tell.

People are just REALLY upset about how the WWE treated him.

Well following Extreme Rules there were only two major things that could have caused the ratings slip, either Christian winning the World Championship or the draft. The fact that the ratings are down now that Orton holds the title makes me think that neither Orton or Christian holding the belt would've made a difference.
Could maybe the old Cena tease might have had something to do with it? Or the fact that Smackdown was arguably raided of it's stars? Combination of all the above?

Wel Christian's been main eventing Smackdown since about a week before Edge even retired and the ratings didn't drop then. Then the ratings drop the very day Orton wins the title. Also right after Orton beat Sheamus for the title ratings dropped on Raw. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Orton fan, but come on. This can't be a coincidence.

Smackdown! has the weaker roster.
It has better in-ring action but it's treated like the B-Show.

It's obviously the lack of Michelle McCool.
The second she left, ratings started to drop.

People....
No one cares who's champion. People care about who they get to see on TV, people care about who they get to see wrestle, people care about who's involved in storylines, but nobody cares who has a belt that represents a fake accomplishment.
I mean, they might care if they perceive Christian as being treated badly, or they don't like that Orton is a central character on Smackdown at the expense of other people. But. No one, NO ONE is mark enough to stop watching a show because of who is champion! It's just absurd.
(and really it's clearly just Rey being gone and the basketball game)

Or it also could be that Smackdown is marketed as the inferior show with inferior wrestlers and a inferior title so there is no reason to watch. Edit: Also the Christian Coalition is pissed off. Vince: But, but...we had Smackdown win Bragging Rights 2 years in a row!

You're being nitpicky and arguing for the sake of arguing. The main event talent and what's going on with them has a huge impact on who watches the show. Shows with Orton as Champion have a history of lower ratings, once again Orton's won the Championship and the ratings are dipping.

You expect me to dig back through months, years of threads just to show you that shows decline in ratings when Orton is champ? Neither you nor this subject matter is that important to me.
