I am watching the ESPN E:60 interview with Vince www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0WCIGPrCCMand he states that he was not born Vince McMahon but Vinney Lumkin or something like that and grew up in a trailer... As a wrestling fan of decades I had no idea of this...So Vince Sr was just having a fling with this young woman (vince's mom) or what?

Lupton was his birth name. Also, was in a military academy and he was the first one in that school to ever be court-martialed. Oh Vince...

McMahon was born on August 24, 1945 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. McMahon's father, Vincent James McMahon, had left the family while McMahon was still a baby. McMahon did not meet his father until age 12. Vince spent the majority of his childhood living with his mother and a string of stepfathers.
McMahon married Linda McMahon on August 26, 1966 in New Bern, North Carolina. The two met in church when Linda was 13 and Vince was 16. At that time McMahon was known as Vince Lupton, using his stepfather's surname

I've always read how Vince had a thing against southern wrestlers also. *If* true, maybe his upbringing had something to do with it.
Edit: I've always known the story of Vince being abandoned by his father, which I always find ironic when old timers always praise his father as an honest and noble man while looking down on Vince like some corporate blood-hungry shark.

And now for some reason I want a Lupto- I mean Liptons Ice Tea.
EDIT: I was actually born under a different surname due to similar reasons to Vince- however, I got my father's surname when I was still a baby. It's a fairly-common occurence to find out the father after birth in single-mother families.

Vince Lupton, after his stepfather. Said a lot of this during an interview with Playboy.

Why would you want to take the surname of the guy who abandoned you?
I'd pick a porn name like Vince Bushram.

Yeah, I remember re-reading about this in the book Sex, Lies and Headlocks (I forget the very first place I read of it). I always thought it was interesting that Vince immediately loved his father, the guy who abandoned him when they finally met. I guess it makes sense though. If you are raised in a trailer and meet a parent who could help you get out of there, you better make a good impression.

They should do an angle where Vince McMahon gets hit on the head, then wakes up and thinks he's Vinnie Lupton

I think I've also heard stories where Vince was abused as a child. It would certainly explain a lot.

I would have enjoyed that."

When I get into wrestling I think I'll make my ring name Vinny Lupton and be announced from "The Trailer Park".
