I think most of the guys in the company realize what they're going to be losing when he walks.

I guess we can confirm that when it comes to Cena/Rock, Punk's with the CeNation on this one.

I just love how every guy is shitting all over Rock at the moment.
As I said before...I guess it smarts when an old guy comes in and outdraws everyone.

I think it smarts to see the powers that be falling over each other to kiss an actor's ass, when they won't even give the average wrestler anything more than a cookie cutter gimmick, generic tights, lines off a script, and nearly zero creative control of their own character. I think it smarts that guys like Punk and Cena, along with so many other "irrelevant" members of the roster, bust their ass for fans who flock to an actor who hasn't been on the grind like that in nearly ten years. I think it smarts that wrestlers these days are more tethered than an after-school program and are practically punished for trying to work around management, yet they're the ones people point the fingers at when they talk about how the product can't and/or won't measure up to an era gilded and canonized by time. Regardless of whether they were out of line or not, they have a point, a good point. No amount of nostalgia erases the fact that they're putting their necks (often literally) on the line 300 days a year, and they're all going to take a backseat to an actor.

But they're taking a backseat to a guy who was once in the same position they're in now. They treat it as if they guy hasn't wrestled a match in his life. Also let's not dodge the point. They're only kissing his ass because he draws them money, simple as. He has drawing power unlike anyone on the roster right now. It's a shame others suffer for it, but that's not his fault he's popular.

I love this. I think I can even finally say since the rapper days I'm a fan of John Cena. The nostalgia has worn off for me and I'll be standing up clapping when Cena beats Rock in a match where, like they said, won't be nearly as good as Punk/Cena.

Realistically, if you're Vince and you can get the Rock to wrestle at your biggest show of the year, he's never wrestled Cena, hasn't wrestled anywhere in 8 years, and is one of the biggest stars in the history of the business, you have to take it. I don't understand why any of the wrestlers would be upset about that, I can pretty much guarantee that Rock/Cena will have a higher buyrate than any other match that they can put on right now. Which will mean bigger paydays for everyone.
I don't put much stock into these stories about everyone hating on the Rock.

I do think this is more of a subtle "wrestling vs. entertainment" thing. I think Cena/Punk will be bigger than Cena/Rock in terms of a wrestling match... but I think Rock/Cena will be way bigger on an entertainment scale. That match will be all about each guy getting their big moves off in the flashiest, showiest way possible. Whereas Cena/Punk will be more about playing with crowd emotions and drawing them into a wrestling match.

CM Punk's part is on youtube. Its called "CM Punk rant congratulating John Cena WWE BRISBANE AUSTRALIA 2011"
Punk is "sick of hearing negative things about Cena". It almost sounds surreal.

I guess you forgot how well Rock and Hogan were able to tug at people's strings emotionally huh?? I figure Punk would be more upset with the rock doing gi joe 2 than anything, but right now the lockerroom's looking like a bunch of salty ass grown men. And i quote jay z in closing "Men shouldn't be jealous, that's a female trait"

And i quote jay z in closing "Men shouldn't be jealous, that's a female trait" I'm not denying Rock/Hogan did that. But there was a need to have an actual story as both guys were sticking around for a while. The Rock isn't going on the road after Wrestlemania, he'll probably show up on RAW the next night and say, "Thanks for having me, see ya later." But that's it. It's natural to want to draw comparisons between Rock/Hogan and Rock/Cena is it's the last generation meeting the current generation. But, when you get right down to it... it's a completely different set of circumstances and will be a completely different kind of match.

Is this a test run for the PPV or something, or is Punk now Brian Pillman?

I mean, I love Punk, he's my favorite wrestler in the company but he doesn't belong in that match. It will ruin a lot of the hype if they involve anyone else in the actual Rock/Cena match IMO. I mean, imagine if they had put say...Kurt Angle in the Rock/Hogan match at WM 18 and made it a 3 way. Sure, Angle may have been the best wrestler in the company, but that match would have been nowhere near as epic as it was one on one.

If they weren't doing 75K buys per PPV, they'd have more of a leg to stand on. Honestly. I mean, that's not directly their fault, but it's the state of the business. 28 buyrate, and thus their checks, with the Rock, will likely kill the buyrate w/o the Rock.
