What really is the most disgusting tactic ever done by a promotion?

Looking at the yearly winners of said category from WON, I'd say the Jorge Gonzalez face turn has to be up there, along with Fritz Von Erich's "heart attack".

I think it's supposed to be Jose Gonzalez, which would be Invader I, I'm assuming this face turn came after he killed Bruiser Brody

Nearly everything done by Ian Rotten springs to mind. Whilst not so disgusting if you take each incident in isolation, the consistent scummyness is overwhelming.

Ian Rotten is a bastard.
What about all the stuff they did after Eddie died? It didn't offend me much, but I remember lots of people being upset about it.

Wasn't there an indy fed that had a male wrestler put a female in the crippler crossface a week or so after the Benoit Tragedy. Can't seem to find anything about it but i swear it happened. Does anyone else remember this?

Does anyone else remember this? I remember cross faces like crazy after Benoit's death. I wouldn't consider that a promotional tactic though. Promotional would be if they advertised something like that. It would be something a promoter is using to advertise a show or sell tickets. For all we know that could have been something the worker did on his own.

PWG had Human Tornado act like he snapped and went insane, which led to him putting Chris Hero's manager, Candice LeRae, in the crossface.

As far as major wrestling goes, Eddie-sploitation bothered me quite a bit. I'm sure much scummier stuff has been done in the indies that I'm just not familiar with.

Never see the big deal of eddie-sploitation
Lazy Booking? Totally
Offensive? I couldn't see how, more considering that the whole family was ok, and that Eddie was always treated as the awesome wrestler who everybody missed. Hell, I would say that eddie sploitation made his legacy even bigger
The only guys who offended him were scummy heels like show and orton, the ''eddie is down there in hell'' line was something than a delusional heel would said, but isn't like everybody thought that, to the point that everybody hated him and forgot that this was all a work
Again, was lazy booking, but this is nowhere as bad as any of the stunts that fritz von erich pulled

I think everyone took it in a different way, due to different sensibilities, but my feelings were more or less summed up by RD's Gooker article that year. I can't say I'm familiar with any of the Von Erich stuff, but I don't doubt it. Maybe a couple more that should get mention would be Hassan's terrorist attack on Taker, Vince having himself murdered by a car bomb (one that got truncated, of course), Billy and Chuck's fake wedding (only because they accepted all that praise from GLAAD and the like, playing it up in the media, knowing full well where the angle was going). The Al Wilson angle made me sick, too. I think I just hate it when they bring death into an angle. Sorry all these are recent WWE. It's just what's fresh in my mind. I'm sure there are much worse examples that I just didn't see.

I heard a rumor that Rob Black had a deal where if you showed up he would run over a puppy.

in addition to faking heart attacks so he wouldn't have to pay his workers, I recall a story about Fritz Von Erich paying a referee to sign and send out pictures of Chris in exchange for money after Chris was already dead
edit: also, didn't the daughter of the guy who killed Brody bill herself as "the daughter of the man who killed Bruiser Brody"?
