The only people who could realistically complain about him taking a main event spot are those that possibly had a chance to main event in the first place. So if it wasn't Rock vs. Cena, Cena would most likely be involved in the title match. So we'd have Punk vs. Cena 3, or maybe Punk vs. Cena vs. Jericho.
It's not like Jack Swagger was waiting in the wings in case Rock couldn't show up.

You never know, without the match already lined up a year prior, who they would have pushed.
Considering Daniel Bryan got a WM world title match, guys like Ziggler, or Miz, or whatever could very well think they could be in that spot.
They would have had HHH/Taker HIAC be the main match anyway.

I can understand the frustration, even if I don't really sympathize, but it's still pretty unfair to The Rock. I'm sure the guy didn't just show up out of nowhere, hold a gun to Vince McMahon's head, and demand the main event spot of WrestleMania. If he has it, it's because WWE saw a point in putting him there. Take up your grievances with them.
It's also not Rock's fault that some of the talent isn't getting over. WWE has had a problem getting people over for years, and making stars out of them long before The Rock even showed up again.

Zigs is one win away from being bounced from the uppercard, del rio/m.henry/orton/christian's still hurt, and are prolly still gettin some form of match. I can see Kofi being a little upset , cuz I think if Vince woulda booked him strong in a MITB match, he coulda moved up the card, but outside of that Santino's gonna have his skits, Thwagger is gonna lisp it up, and NXT still wont be acknowledge (you red headed step child you). So who the hell can we say is upset??

I like how all of these stories are complaining about Rocky "taking" a main event spot. Why do not hear any complaining about Jericho coming back after yet another sabbatical of touring with Fozzy only to get a WWE title/main event spot? If these stories are true that's who they should be complaining about, it seems to me that Jericho is taking that spot from someone that has been working towards a main event spot. Everyone knows that the Rock is one of the biggest stars in history and him coming back to wrestle in his hometown is a huge deal, I just can't fathom how anyone in the locker room could be so dense not to realize that. Which is why I don't buy all of these stories at all. Its different though. Jericho is back full time doing house shows and such, and last time he was there, most, if not all the current guys were around. Jericho is like Big Show and Kane taking breaks last year. When they are back, they're fully back. Well, my point is that there are only a handful of guys that can be a legit main event for Mania at this point. Some of that has to do with their booking, some of it has to do with the fact that they haven't been around for all that long, some of it has to do with the fact that people just aren't buying into them. It seems to me that Jericho is taking a spot that a guy like Ziggler, Miz or someone else on that level would be getting, whereas if Rocky wasn't wrestling that spot would go to a proven draw, i.e someone in the Taker/HHH range. It's not like the E would just stick Kofi or whoever in that spot and call it a day.

Jericho, presumably, is back, not just for Wrestlemania, he's working full time as long as he's there, and has done so to this point, and will do for however long he's there. He worked the Rumble, the Elimination Chamber, and most likely will do ER, Over the Limit, etc.

Considering Daniel Bryan got a WM world title match, guys like Ziggler, or Miz, or whatever could very well think they could be in that spot. True, but I can make a very educated guess based on what's happened. First, Cena's been in a world title match at Wrestlemania every year for the past 7 years. Twice this year, he's not been in a title match but was still the main event of the show. Secondly, The Rock isn't taking a world title match, he's taking Cena out of a world title match. If those guys were in line for a world title match at Mania, this year would have been their best chance for it. WWE had the leeway with a big name match already on the card to take a chance on these guys for a Wrestlemania title match. But they didn't get it. Now, while Rock vs. Cena has taken some tv time, it's most definitely not taken enough time to prevent them from pushing someone. If those guys were going to be in a title match at Wrestlemania, it's their best chance. The fact that they aren't makes it pretty evident that they weren't going to be to begin with. In every likelihood, the Rock isn't taking their Mania spot. The guys who are getting one are those who likely will still get one. The Rock's match is the replacement for the celebrity spectacle this year.

He DID have a big Nexus feud with no title, and a big Kane feud with no title. He can pull it off. Either way, Daniel Bryan has a world title match at Wrestlemania. Everyone on his level and above probably thinks they could have gotten one too. They're allowed to have a little pride, instead of just conceding and taking something like a MITB match.

This in response to his detractors within the locker room supposedly. Now could this pose a problem in the near future? Also could Rock then think "stuff it, why should I bother?". Not trying to be a dick but what problem at all could this cause in the near future? Or after that? The guys bitching have known about this match for a year first of all, so they should have already reconciled this. But what are they going to do, quit? Be assholes to The Rock? Go ahead and give him the "cold shoulder", and say hi to Morrison on the indies. The only way a problem would be caused would be if it was Cena who was the one who was pissed off and was shooting down ideas about the match or threatening to shoot on The Rock during it. Anything else is just inconsequential bulls***.

The thing is, Cena vs. Rock is a specialty match in the same vein as Rock vs. Hogan. There is no spot to take. It's being sold on the idea of the past vs. the present. If this was for one of the World Titles, maybe I would sympathize with the complainers more.

Guys like CM Punk could bust their ass all year, and even go into Mania with the title, and they still won't be considered the main event. Plus it's being promoted over an entire year, taking up time for other guys to potentially get over. It doesn't make the rest of the roster look very important when the WWE's talking like Roce/Cena is the only match really worth watching. Ignoring the business aspect of it, anyone who's not John Cena and wants to move up within the company should at least be a little annoyed by all this.

Everyone on his level and above probably thinks they could have gotten one too. They're allowed to have a little pride, instead of just conceding and taking something like a MITB match. I never said he didn't have big feuds with no title, in fact, I said the opposite. But that Nexus feud didn't go to Mania, and Cena was right back in the title match. I can't say with absolute certainty that it's not going to rain hot dogs on April 15th, but if I look at how rain works and hot dogs work, it's generally a really good assumption to say that it won't. They've had ample time to put people on their level, and pride or not, they didn't. Because of that, I don't see any compelling reason to believe that there'd a marquee Cena vs. Kofi match at Mania if it weren't for The Rock. If a guy hasn't been a consistent main eventer all year, then the chances are far better than not that they would never have been in the WM main event.

Well, my point is that there are only a handful of guys that can be a legit main event for Mania at this point. But you still have your two World title matches, and suprise suprise they don't feature anyone new minus Daniel Bryan. The value of the belts wont have fallen after WM is over. Whoever these complainers were, unless they Punk, Bryan, Y2J or Sheamus, they would have floundered in the lower leagues, Rock or not. And this way they get a fatter paycheck.

If this was for one of the World Titles, maybe I would sympathize with the complainers more. This. It's a one off match, it's practically a gimmick, it's something genuinely special for wrestling fans that may not happen again. No ones spot is taken in the upper card/lower card. They'll have the multi-man tag match this year and possibly the MITB so they have room for most of the roster. I could possibly understand that angle if they clearly weren't trying to find room for everyone but they are, whilst giving us one of the best Wrestlemania line-ups since Wrestlemania 19. The biggest stage in the wrestling business deserves the special one off matches. It's supposed to be the PPV you watch for the best of the best in gimmicks/matches/attractions. It's not "thank the guys who unfortunately aren't as popular as the megastars," which may be unfair but blame the creative team for that, not someone who's a proven megastar, financial draw and someone the majority of people want to see back. ------------------ On topic though, I honestly feel the WWE are trying to push Cena as the wrestlers representative and this is in full kayfabe. The Rock doesn't do bitchy shoot messages, he stays in kayfabe all the time.

At least Jericho is working in the WWE on a regular basis, and it's assumed that he'll continue to work there after Mania, so you could at least say he's earned the spot. If there was another heel that has shown over the past year that they were better for the spot than Jericho then it could have been them vs CM Punk for the title. But there hasn't been.
