Santino and Undertaker have this in common: both men were saddled with a crappy gimmick and took it as their own and transcended what they were originally supposed to be. They both connect to the audience in a way that can never EVER be taught or even learned, but just happens when all the stars and planets allign just right for someone. Santino and Taker both took crap and turned it into a full course banquet. And yes, Santino has MASSIVE skills that he doesn't break out (except in glimpses) because of the nature of the character. rest assured though, he is definitely one of the three guys in the back that you would never want to get into a shoot with. I dunno, Jim Cornette slapped the s*** out of him... Well you do not beat the crap out of your boss who holds your career in the palm of your hand, especially when you are pretty much just starting out. besides, Cornette caught hell for it and where is he now in comparison to Santino? Besides, with Santinos LEGIT MMA skills he could have killed Cornette in a heartbeat. The fact that the man restrained himself against a 98 pound weakling deserves respect. Sometimes it takes more badassery NOT to hit back.

On one hand, when Miz is booked as a threat, he definitely can work a crowd as well as anyone. However any other time, he isn't that noticeable.
On the other hand Santino can get over while jobbing in 3 seconds.
Santino wins.

As I said, I shoulda mentioned that yeah Cornette was his boss at the time/I was being snarky, but again, has Santino showed those 'legit MMA skills' anywhere, to anyone?
Maybe he has and I'm just unaware.

Santino is good in the ring and has a ton of charisma but I hate his character so much. I love funny wrestlers, but it's piled on way too damn thick with Santino. I prefer my comedy wrestlers to be like Jericho in WCW, not Doink.

I think Santino can and should tone it down a bit once he moves further up the card. He should bust out more of his MMA skills, get rid of the fake Italian accent, and stop the power walking to the ring. He can afford to be a little bit more serious. However, I still think he should keep the Cobra, as it is an effective finisher. I've never seen anyone take the Cobra and straight up no-sell it. Even main eventers go out of their way to avoid it or counter it.

Miz was pinned by Orton on Smackdown this week. He managed to still be boring during the pinfall.

However, I highly highly doubt that he would have lasted this long. When he first debuted, they didn't really play up anything, outside of the fact that he was Italian. In fact, I'll go so far as to say he was one of the worst IC champions EVER with that first reign...it was dreadful. I thought for sure he was going to be on his way out almost as soon as he came in. Fortunately, he started acting goofier and goofier (which no one was really doing at the time) so he was easily becoming my favorite thing to watch. Lord...when that music hit in late 2008...I just started smiling, because I knew he was going to make me laugh and he did. But honestly...I do see your point. There's only so far you can go with a gimmick and I do think that Santino hit the peak as far as humor goes. But I don't think he should change anything, just not be as silly in the ring, which I think he's been doing. Outside of the Cobra, he doesn't exactly do very much funny stuff. Backstage segments and such, I really don't care...he's a human like the rest of us...just a little eccentric and theatrical, but definitely don't so us too much of Santino backstage.

Santino. I adore Santino and his current push is one of my favourite things about WWE right now.
Miz I like, but he's been treading water character-wise for months now. He hasn't been involved in any interesting feuds or storylines for ages (let's face it, the Awesome Truth thing was a failure) and it's painfully obvious he hasn't evolved in the ring or on the mic at all.

I remember serious out-of-the crowd Santino, who was so boring in 2007 that fans cheered when Umaga threatened to spike his eye out. Was not fun to watch then and I dont think it will be fun to watch now. Making Miz and Swagger serious to legitimize them for the main event ended up being disastrous. Daniel Bryan is goofy as f*** and as over as ever.

The difference between Daniel Bryan and Santino is that Daniel Bryan has always been made to look like a badass in the ring, despite jobbing for a large chunk of his WWE run. Santino hasn't. I don't think that Santino should SRS up completely. He can still be funny while toning down the more over the top facets of his character.
