Actually, I'd rather not have to wait an entire PPV for a good match between two wrestlers that should have had a good competitive match at WrestleMania. WM should be for ending feuds or beginning further storylines, not being an advertisement for the next match. The only thing that got furthered from that match is probably going to be Bryan/AJ as he will probably blame her for the loss despite the fact that he was the one who called her up on the apron for these pre-match kisses.

The match did NOTHING for Sheamus. It didn't benefit anyone other than VKM and KD who were probably falling over themselves laughing.

Sheamus beating D-Bry in 18 seconds helps no-one. it makes D-Bry look like a chump and Sheamus was booked like crap heading into the match so nobody cares. I'd be fine with Sheamus winning, hell that's probably the better outcome, but how the hell is anybody supposed to get invested in such a cheap, heatless winf? and it was the first match of the show, it sucked all the life out of the crowd. if I was Orton or Kane I'd be pissed to have to go out after that.

Yeah, pretty much everyone knew that Sheamus was winning. But a WHC changing hands like this? At Wrestlemania? As a curtain-jerker?
NO.

When I read the results, I started dying laughing. Poor DB. Guy goes from getting bumped off of WM card last year to getting killed in less than a minute this year. That's hilarious to me.

You're right...why should I pay more money for the biggest show of the year and get less wrestling? A 4 hour show with less than 2 hours worth of wrestling...that's beyond pathetic. I don't mind squash matches, but they have to at least have merit...and in this case...it didn't. Imagine if they made Taker/Trips a squash match...they wouldn't. I'm not saying that Sheamus/Bryan deserved 30 minutes (although I'd imagine it would be pretty good if they did), but why even advertise a match that has NO action? It's hardly a step above the fingerpoke of doom.

I wouldn't have had a problem had it not opened the show. That made it f***ing horrible

It just made sense to me that someone who won the title in a shady fashion and has basically dodged Henry, Show, and Sheamus this whole time got GOT in a short amount of time. He wasn't 'dodging' them. Even if he constantly won through pure heelish tactics, he was still putting on great, competitive matches with them, which is what we should have got tonight.

Yeah, I thought it sucked. Especially as a way to open the show.

So tonight Bryan played Honky Tonk Man, getting annihilated by the (Celtic) Warrior. And making it that far at all is very good for a guy with his set of talents. The difference is that HTM was a comedy act who isn't much of a wrestler. Bryan is the best goddamn wrestler in the company, and he was in matches with Big Show, Orton, Henry, etc. This is not going to get Sheamus over, and it CLEARLY pissed the fans off. Don't make this excuse, nobody wanted that and it isn't 1988 anymore.

Wow, what a condescending and snarky OP. Glad your guy won, though. It's always fun when your favorite wins, and that's the point of Wrestlemania. If you got enjoyment out of it, awesome. But for a lot of people it just seems like a dumb move, so of course people are gonna be upset. Bryan has a lot of fans here too, who are you to tell them the product isn't for them?

The match did NOTHING for Sheamus. It didn't benefit anyone other than VKM and KD who were probably falling over themselves laughing. And again with Sheamus, I like Sheamus, but he looks like a complete heel in that situation. He jumped him practically from behind. What kind of baby face is he? I can see the Honky Tonk Man comparison, but again, Warrior came out and Honky was facing him. Backlund the same way. Bryan was distracted, and was quickly jumped from behind. My guess is it might give Bryan some fuel, but once again, it goes back to killing the crowd and that the biggest reason why it's a problem.

I honestly don't see what the problem is. Sheamus didn't look like a chump, Sheamus looked like a guy who was wise to DB's "pre-match kiss" and took advantage of it.

They're going about in an odd way then. Why would I invest any time into the programming if they're going to conclude something like this in 18 seconds? They can shove Extreme Rules up their holes. THing is, as I said on the Mania thread they did almost this exact thing when Bryan was the face US champ(Sheamus flattened him that is, but he ended up getting himself DQed) and then the next week they had a real match.

I really don't understand how you condone that. This isn't the ECW title, this is the World Heavyweight Championship. And regardless of the build, that should not have been the match or lack of a match that we got.
Overall it was a great Wrestlemania, but that really made me pissed off.

I am going to play the devil's advocate here, but Bryan was being pushed as a weak champion from the get-go. So technically that loss makes sense. I guess the story of that match was for Sheamus waned to end it quickly before going though more Bryan shenanigans. Plus, the story will continue with Bryan trying to prove himself that he can be a worthy champion and try to bet Sheamus to regain his title since this time, he can only get it by pinning and submitting Sheamus, so no more DQ, countout or other ways to win since he is not champion anymore.

I get their logic in it, but if any match warranted that kind of booking, it was Big Show / Cody.

I really think this is all the proof we need that they don't give two shits about SmackDown or it's angles.
