I've heard reference made towards Shimmer fans (or fans of women's wrestling in general) being creepy, but I've never really paid it that much attention (granted, I've seen some creepy stuff here, but nothing that wasn't par for the course by Internet standards). Now, admittedly, I don't really follow Shimmer, but they can't be that much creepier than any other Internet fandoms, can they?

I've heard rumors they can get a bit....possesive with certain wrestlers. They build an attachment and any form of recognition is taken as a sign of affection. Like the cheerleader saying "Hello" to the school nerd in the hallway and he swoons.
I think, for the most part, the fans act civil as whole so this might be the few bad apples spoiling the bunch.

I don't doubt that they exist, but there's no way they're the majority.

You have crazies everywhere though. I bet they have some interesting people that have attachments, but probably no more than any other program.

Serena? I'd be more worried about Portia Perez considering alot of the fans that linger in this section...
Also, for further studies into this see BOD.

For a wrestling company made up entirely of women it's unfortunately inevitable. Most fans on the whole seem like decent people but like with any other company you get a good number of oddballs, this company just happens to be made up of women rolling around in lycra as opposed to guys who look like Kevin Steen.

I don't think all these guys are super into Deeb because she's an attractive young lady, but because she used to hang out with Punk.

Plus, since she shaved her head, her look is "out of the norm", and wrestling fans somehow foster ridiculous obsessions over those girls(Evidence: Daffney).

Daffney is actually really flipping cool so that doesn't surprise me, the Deeb obsession happened only after she got fired.

The way some people tell it, you'd think women's wrestling fans out-crazy those crazies.

I'm convinced there are some fans, here and elsewhere, that would lick dirt if you told them Mickie James was standing there a few minutes ago.

I'll let you know after this weekend. That's my stance as well. My only exposure to Shimmer have been dvds or online. So it's tough to tell based on that. I'll be disappointed if there isn't much female fans supporting them. I know at worst, women's wrestling can be misogynistic (Wrestlicious, Custom Matches, WWE at times, etc), but at best, women's wrestling can the epidemy of feminism. You have women who perform just at well as their male counterparts, (and in some cases just as athletically gifted as most males), who due to the exploitative nature of the wrestling industry HAVE to be self-reliant, strong (physically and mentally), and disregard traditional gender roles in order to survive in such an industry. While at the same time, at no expense of their self-worth. Some of these woman can be good role-models for girls growing up. I really hope female wrestling fans see that.
