Good for Wikipedia. It's rare to hear of drastic action being taken like this so well done for going ahead with it. You've got to make a stand against things you disagree with.

Its more than just Wiki thats going to black out, Mozilla and Google too and I think thats more of a statement than if it was just Wiki Wait, they're doing it for sure? If so that's fantastic, THAT'S how you make a statement. Massive respect to Mozilla and Google if they're going to go black as well I think these blackouts are really stupid, to be honest. And I only use Google to search because it's better than either Bing or Yahoo. And I hope it won't affect GMail also because if it does I'll be furious.

Hopefully Google and Mozilla going out don't interfere with Chrome and Firefox. Internet Explorer sucks.

I think, take that for what you will, that it'd affect everything Google. Search engine, Google+, Gmail, the whole nine yards.

How the hell is this blackout supposed to make a point to Washington... All it's gonna do is piss a lot of people off.

And what good would it do to piss them off. They are not the ones voting on this bill, so it won't make a difference in the end.

Because it's an election year and pissing people off while simultaneously telling them "This is what the Internet could be like if this horrible bill passes!" is very dangerous for any politicians who would continue to support it.

Yeah, what he said.

But most of these politicians have already "bragged" about not being Internet users.
I reiterate...stupid move.
Edit: Seems wordpress will shut down so that means no FAN updates.

Are we safe? I at least need something to do tomorrow. the boards should still be running tomorrow, even though it may just be me holding a candle trying to find my way through the darkend sections of the boards walking into random threads cursing and swearing for banging body bits on the threads.

So, is there an official list of sites shutting down tomorrow?

It's not for the politicians. It's for the average internet users who do not know that these bills even exist. It's their way of saying, "hey guys, you don't know this, but your politicians are trying to pass a bill that has the potential to take down all your favorite websites that you frequent. If you want to do something to prevent this, here is some information for you."

I hope they wait to go down until 7 AM or so. That way it'll be as people are first waking up or first arriving at school or work, maximizing just how much of an annoyance it is.

It's the same as striking because someone feels their working conditions are unfair. Yes, it's going to upset some but, (hopefully) it's going to raise more attention and force people to learn about the issue you want to bring forward.

But the language doesn't even say this and this will be shut down and it's also been twisted in different ways.
Why are we worrying about the maybe? It seems a bit on the paranoid side.
