In hindsight, a lot of stuff they used to say about Tito Santana was pretty shocking, along with Samoans/black guys having hard heads. I was actually gonna post about Tito as well....one time on the old Superstars show, The Brain referred to him as a wetback....I honestly think that is my first "Tell me he didn't just say that" moment watching wrestling. People used to have a sense of humor and not feign horror over any joke that was said with a racial backdrop. Thats pretty tame for a lot of the things Heenan said in regards to Tito

When Katie Lea and Paul Burchill were on the Abraham Washington show, Tony Atlas said that Katie Lea was hot. Matt Striker whispered "Keep your shoes on Katie"

"It was a great day in Japan when Bull won the title, no one got on the subway that day"-Jim Cornette during a Bull Nakano match, shortly after the sarin gas attacks on the Tokyo subway system. I actually just watched that match on YouTube yesterday. Incredible match.

If a person objects to a racial/national or ethnic slur, it doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humour.

If a person objects to a racial/national or ethnic slur, it doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humour. People who object to racial JOKES because they think they have to don't have a sense of humor. If someone can't see the comedy in... "Tito Santana is like a cue-ball. The more you strike him, the more english you get out of him." as opposed to something like "Mexicans are an inferior race and I hate them" Then I feel sorry for you, try laughing at off handed humor, you'll live longer

Both are forms of bigotry. One is simply more severe than the other. I don't doubt that bigoted jokes are a form of comedy, but I don't agree that not finding them funny equates to a lack of a sense of humour.
I can live a long life while not laughing at bigoted jokes. They are not mutually exclusive.

RE: Santana/Heenan
This was at a time in the 80s when the most Heenan hated on the face, the more the fans loved them. I recall reading that Heenan ran by each and every joke he planned to use on commentary with Tito first, and that they were both close so Heenan wanted to do whatever he could to help him.

Anywho, yeah, some of this stuff is a little blue for the old WWE

Jim Ross and Dark Journey. Nuff said. Not enough said, what was this? Also, didn't King call Goldust a "faggot" some point in like 1997?

Jesse Ventura said "it looks like Roots 2" as Mr. T. was getting whipped by Roddy Piper's belt during the buildup to their boxing match at WM2. I think Jesse also mentioned he was getting beat like "a runaway slave" at some point.

Not necessarily shocking, but this is still my favorite Lawler line: "You know, panties aren't the best thing in the world, but they're next to it!" Wait, that's actually clever. Are you sure that's a Lawler line?
