During the post-match backstage business at WM 7, when Slaughter throws a fireball at Hogan, Mean Gene says that Slaughter "raped" Hogan's celebration.
Harsh.

Heyman: "His parents had nine months and all they could come up with is Christian? That would be like my parents naming me Jew" Oh my god. I am dying. That is hilarious! I love Heyman so much.

Does anyone remember the Wrestlemania match between Sable and Luna? I remember that at one point, Luna boots Sable in the stomach and Lawler immediately pipes up: "there go the ovaries!"
I'm sorry to say that I LOL'd at that one....

What are some of your biggest "Did he/she just say say that?" moments on commentary in WWE? To start, here's two from Jerry Lawler. WrestleMania 13 during the Rocky/Sultan match, talking about Rocky's speech at the Slammies: "Rocky got up there and thanked his dad with that long, boring speech. It was so boring even Christopher Reeve got up and walked out." No Way Out 1998 during the Godwinns/Quebecers match, after discussing the Godwinns being from Arkansas leads into a mention of Bill Clinton: "Don't even get me started on Clinton. Where's Lee Harvey Oswald when his country needs him?" Reading these... I wish they'd let Lawler cut loose on the microphone more. He is superb when given the opportunity.

Just heard this one on Thanksgiving Smackdown:
Cole: "How do you think Tazz celebrates Thanksgiving in Redhook Brooklyn?" Lawler: "Thanking that he doesn't get shot"

Yep, it's truly superb to make a crack about a crippled guy and a joke about killing a president. The FDR jokes write themselves.

Guy can rile up a crowd really well. Admittedly I laughed at both cracks but I've always enjoyed a touch of the gallows in my humour.

Hardocore Holly to Cole:
"I will break your ass in half you little s*** head."
I assume this counts because Cole was the one giving an interview, so...

No, trust me, even in TV-14, Lawler gets real old, real fast.

I was in high school during the Attitude Era, so I thought the guy was hilarious because he had the same immature sense of humor I did. When I watch old events now, it's painful to listen to. He sounds like a pervy uncle.

I remember during a PPV in Dallas, E&C and I believe Angle were teaming for a match and we're doing the five second pose and while mocking the city, I think Edge said something to the effect of "It's a good thing JFK was shot here, otherwise he might have killed himself when he saw this city."
It's not commentary per se, but it was a "Whoa...." moment for me.

He sounds like a pervy uncle. To be fair, in the mid-90s when he still had some boundaries pre-Attitude era, he said some pretty clever stuff. His critique of the crowd as he walked to the ring during the 1996 King of the Ring is a favorite moment of mine. While I'll always prefer Heenan, his humor was more of a passive heel while Lawler was a much more active instigator, making for a refreshing take on heel commontary. Once he actually poured alcohol down Jake Roberts' throat, the wheels fell off the rollercoaster and his dissent began.

Also, whenever JR says "who fed you that line?" to another commentator, my 4th wall feels vulnerable.

"Mike Awesome with a suicide dive, and it's a damn shame he didn't succeed and take his own life!" - Joey Styles, One Night Stand 2005. In retrospect this is VERY bad. The only things remotely close to that would be someone insinuating Benoit being as brutal at home as he is in the ring or something. Silent, but violent does sound a little dark in retrospect. What are some of your biggest "Did he/she just say say that?" moments on commentary in WWE? To start, here's two from Jerry Lawler. No Way Out 1998 during the Godwinns/Quebecers match, after discussing the Godwinns being from Arkansas leads into a mention of Bill Clinton: "Don't even get me started on Clinton. Where's Lee Harvey Oswald when his country needs him?" This is pretty unacceptable. When Cole said something like "this could be the worst night of Bret Hart's life". (can't remember the damn quote) This is stupid, but I give Cole the benefit of the doubt. He probably didn't really think when he said those lines live and hopefully he regretted it the very moment he said it. CM Punk and his cracks on Alex Riley's DUI. I didn't hear that, but that sounds funny. Riley probably deserved it. I think I remember commentary in Smackdown Vs. Raw where JR insinuated Lawler being a pedo or at least a dirty old man. I wasn't shocked since Lawler indeed IS a creepy dirty old man.

I still kind of hate Joey Styles for that Mike Awesome quote. There was no need for that.

It was harsh but he did apologize in the same match, before actually marking out for the match. How was he supposed to that he would actually hang himself in the future?
