Honestly, try it.
I figured out my enjoyment of wrestling has dived since I started reading other people's opinions on it.
So this week I watched all the shows without looking at a single thread, and I really enjoyed it.
No worrying about "that guy isn't over at all", "so and so can't draw heat" or "that was plain stupid".
It was all, "well that was fun", "yeah, that makes sense" and "this guy has potential".
Try it sometime.

The influence of others only influences you if you let it. Watch it as you, not as you with them. Mike Adamle me taught this. Its how you keep it Adamle Original.

There were 2 occasions where I had no internet for more than a month, and I still found some aspects of the product illogical as I would if I were able to browse forums.
So this doesn't apply to everyone.

Yeah, good responses to be fair. I was being over the top.
To few examples for me would be:
I loved Alberto Del Rio. I thought he was excellent. Then I read most people on here hating on him and I couldn't enjoy him anymore, because I had these criticisms in my mind and was preoccupied thinking "Oh they won't like that".
Another one is Brodus Clay. I completely bought into him, only to once again find out a lot of people didn't. Again, it shouldn't change my thinking but I can't help but get hung up on what I've read.
It's the same with segments, matches, promos etc.
Probably says more about me than it does about the "IWC" in general.

I think he is saying that it's easier to enjoy something when others around you aren't dissecting every little detail of what you're watching. By this I mean you might enjoy something, but if you have dozens of people saying "This sucks cause of ____," thoughts then become of the argument of "why it doesn't suck" instead of "why I enjoyed it." Once it becomes about more than just your personal enjoyment, it's not as fun.

I read here a lot and I still enjoy 90% or so what the E puts on. It really depends on the person.

I just watch the shows first and then read the opinions after, usually. That way my opinions are formed before they can be influenced (not that they ever really are).
Nothing's funnier than finding something really good, expecting a lot of people to agree and then feeling weird when the majority don't.

If its a show I personally enjoy and don't go on the boards I enjoy it way more. I get really pissed when people just want to shit on everything and talk crap about stuff that really wasn't that bad or that big of a deal.
If its a pretty boring show though, this place makes it a lot better. So I guess it just depends.

See, I think the forum is great. If you can't go and watch a Raw or PPV with a group this is the next best thing.

Yeah, if you're completely weak-minded. I enjoy the show when it's good and don't when it's bad regardless of what people are saying. It's that simple. Unfortunately, hipster mentality dictates that if many people think something is dumb then it must be awesome.

I agree with you for a different reason. I didn't have access to the internet AND didn't have cable a couple of years ago. All I had was Smackdown and without spoilers/news I found myself really looking forward to the show every week. I'm sure it had to do with the lack of exposure (internet/Raw). But still it was damn fun feeling like a kid for that month waiting for the show to start.
I very rarely get turned off to a product because of others opinions though. I may get turned off to the forums, but never the product.

The people that are on the forum and reading results, and giving opinions despite not actually watching the shows themselves are the ones that kill me.
A mini version of the OP is not reading spoilers before watching Smackdown, just waiting and watching it on TV (or DVR or what have you). I think spoilers often have a negative mood to them and omit details that make things more interesting or make sense. Reading those and going "ugh, sounds like a lame show" immediately poisons your mindset when you actually do watch, if you choose to at all. Also, wrestling matches are much, much better when you don't know who's gong to win.

Sorry, but this forum? Really?
This forum is about as laid back and silly as any that you'll find. There are places that are a 100x worse in terms of insider references, smarkdom, flaming, arguments, ruined threads, rumors being blown out of proportion, and general rudeness.

I ignored this forum for a month and it didn't make any difference in my WWE enjoyment. Hell, might have enjoyed it less because I didn't have people to joke around with.
Granted, I'm not a very critical person - I mean, I'm critical, but if I don't like something I don't get angry, I just laugh about it or ignore it. There's some exceptions where things actually get me mad, but for the most part I prefer to just laugh at WWE's shittiness instead of get mad.

Another thing - discovering that Smackdown was half taped off crowd wise. If I see a picture of Smackdowns crappy crowd before I see the show it kills the show for me.

I absolutely cannot watch if someone next to me is going all "oh, he sold that badly" or "well, ___ won, so that's a lot of heels going over tonight. So ___ will win the main event." I don't come on here when I'm watching, but I do love seeing what everyone thinks afterwards, because I love that everyone has a different take on it.
