But it's apparently a meaningless long reign that will mean absolutely nothing and will be forgotten as soon as it's over. Sorrily, yes.

I don't agree, I think after the run is over Punk will be touted as having the longest WWE title run since blah blah blah in blah blah blah, its done wonders for establishing his credibility. Ironically, I think once he loses the belt he'll move to a higher profile feud, with his credibility high enough to battle someone like Lesnar or Austin.

I know alot off people will disagree with me on this one. and it's not like it's likely to happen anyway. But I'd like to see Punks reign hit a whole 365 days I for one have enjoyed it very much so.

The key is Lesnar. If they want to compress his appearences at the same time making him the next WWE champion, then Survivor Series would be the best time. We can have Punk drop the title to Lesnar in November. Then Lesnar has 3 throwaway title defenses before Wrestlemania. Dec: vs. Sheamus Jan vs. Orton Feb vs. Jericho/Kofi/Truth/Miz/Santino and he MURDERS them all. Meanwhile, Rock wins the Royal Rumble, and you know you will mark out for that, and go onto main even Wrestlemania vs. Lesnar. With Rock's limited appearences, the best way to be able to keep him away is to let him win the Rumble and then come back the night after EC and hype up Brock vs. Rock 2. Meanwhile, CM Punk moves on to a feud with Austin down the road up to Survivor Series.

Here's another statistic: When you factor in his first reign, in 21 days he'll enter the "20 Longest Total Reigns" list, pushing The Undertaker off the list.

I am sorry, I barely remember that he is champion. It's treated much like Benoit's title reign, an after thought. I think he is still trying to recover from them dropping the ball with him from last summer. I have nothing against him, they haven't booked him well enough for me to give a crap about him now.
He is no where near the same league of men that are in the over 200 days club now. Just what I think.

His longest reign. He has a combined total of like 500+ days. But his 210 day reign was TERRIBLE. He won it from Orton at Backlash 2004 and kept it until Edge defeated him in the 3 way match with Kozlov. 4 1/2 years? Damn, no wonder people call it the Reign of Terror.

Well, to recap, here's his reign, but before I start, anyone else think that he should've just had kept the title since MITB 2011, without tranisitional runs to Mysterio, Cena, and Del Rio. He would be around 300 days right now, if that were the case. It seems his current gimmick needs the WWE title more than anything else. Punk reign: Def. Del Rio at Survivor Series to win the WWE Championship Def. Del Rio and Miz at TLC to retain Def. Ziggler at Royal Rumble to retain Def. The Miz, Jericho, Kingston, R-Truth and Ziggler at Elimination Chamber to retain Def. Jericho at Wrestlemania XXVIII to retain Def. Jericho at Extreme Rules to retain Def. Bryan at Over The Limit to retain While the feuds may have sucked, at least this title run delievered in ring, where it matters. It's stuff like this that makes me long for a guy with a "fighting championship" gimmick a la Bret Hart. Punk could be that guy if WWE wanted to.

I feel like the likely Punk-Bryan match at No Way Out is a win-win for me as a fan. If Punk loses, Bryan is WWE Champion. If Punk wins, it adds to his long title reign.

TBH, even though some of you prefer having the title as the focal point of the show, in the end it's just a show and whatever sells the best should always be the focal point, it's all about how you utilize what you have.
WWE is doing a perfect job with Punk having him defend his title against all the midcarders because it allows us to see which midcarders are ready to main-event and it gives Punk a credible and long reign that we haven't gotten in a while.

it's also one of the most boring reigns and looked 2nd rate throughout his reign. ONE main event in his 6-7 months reign.

Damn, Triple H's 2007 run sucked. That is all.
I'll never forget in particular the defense against Jeff Hardy where he took both of Jeff's finishers in a row then immediately rolled him up for a three.
Anyway, Punk. While I don't think much of this reign, it does sure as hell trump his World title ones. There's a reason I consider him the worst World champion ever in a class including reigns like Big Show's and Ziggler's.

Only 3 of those matches are worth anything, and that's the 3 way ladder match, and extreme rules forward. The scramble sucked, especially with that 10 minute break to sell Jericho being KO'd, All the Ziggler match did was screw the poor guy over ( i got the story of Punk getting back all his wins, but technically being defeated 4 times in a row in the same night is crazy), and the wrestlemania match had way too much hype, and it suffered because of it.

As the World Champ, Punk's consistently been 3rd banana at best, and at times has dropped as low as the 5th most important guy on the show. That is not a good title reign. I'm convinced that the only reason the reign's gone on this long is because they've forgotten he has the belt.
