Also while I'm here, Rikidozan - Made wrestling big in japan, huge draw with Lou Thesz, trained Antonio Inoki and Giant Baba (both of whom should be on this list) and is essentially the most important figure in Japanese wrestling (Figure if its most influential in prowrestling you need to feature japenese, mexican and european guys)

Piper gets bonus points for also creating an interview segment that was almost like it's own show. Piper's Pit had tons of classic moments take place..and it spawned The Cutting Edge, The PeepShow, The Funeral Parlor, King's Court, The Cabana, Brother Love Show, Flower Shop, body Shop, Barber Shop, Snake Pit and countless others.
Randy Savage was very influential...he was a much smaller guy in the mid 80s, but he hit the top based on work ethic and style.

Rising Stamp, I was serious about George Hackenschmidt, he was the first wrestler you could call a "star" in America, back in the early 1900's

It's nice to see a quality thread for a change - filled with wrestling history and influential contributions, rather than thread after thread saying why 'X' sucks. Please quit trying to ruin it with these stupid comments about Gillberg. Nobody is amused. Thanks.

And on that basis you should also have Martin "Farmer" Burns. Basically the first name in wrestling, trained Frank Gotch and influenced grapplers such as Ed Lewis without whom you wouldn't have an industry

Ric Flair I wont even dare put him at 14 or higher due to the fact he should have been put at least #2. Without Flair we would have not had the heated 80's debate of whos better Flair or Hogan. Who else at the time was coming out in sparkling robes and one of a few with theme music. Who else has had the most popular trademark the WHOOOOOOOO,that even today the fans scream everytime a wrestler uses a chop.Try going to any wrestling event and not hearing WHOOOOO!Flair also IMO influnced many wrestlers with the STRUT.Like Hogan had the North,Flair had the South!!

No 2? No not that high. If you were gonna put a gun 2 my head I'd make the top 5.
1. Vince McMahon - Sorry but its true
2. Hulk Hogan - Do I need to say
3. Gold Dust Trio - Made the business what it is
4. Georgeous George - Changed everything
5. Ric Flair - Heres your boy, 2nd biggest name ever.
Hell if you want a most influential list look at the list on wrestlingencyclopedia.com its really good

I'm also gonna say Rey Mysterio and Psycosis... they brought Lucha Libre to mainstream America in 1995 when they were in ECW. I think Lucha Libre influenced the high-flying style you see today...

I know people will freak out...But, Jeff Hardy. He brought overall risk taking to mainstream fans (the ones who didn't watch ECW and stuff). He also managed to star in some of the best matches in WWE history.
